If I open my eyes, does that void the prayer? I know you have all been thinking this.

No, I keep my eyes completely closed during praying and none of my prayers have ever come true... it's like when I pray for something, the complete opposite happens, so maybe you should just pray with your eyes open the whole time, since I know I haven't had luck with my eyes closed.

No. When we pray, God gives us what we need. If what we want is not what we need, then God has another plan for us.

Your eyes can be open or closed when you pray as long as you can reasonably stay focused on your prayer. But God knows that we all get distracted during prayer. We just have to keep working at it and continue praying even after the distraction and trust in God's mercy.

May God bless you.

What kind of rule is that that you have to keep your eyes closed? And all you who called him a sinner are ignorant imbeciles!
Prayer is no different than any other form of ritual. You might have a different interpretation as to the mechanics, but in essence it's no different than a witch doctor shaking his cain at the sick; your intenmtion is solely to use your emotional energy to send this request up toards the cosmos/God/karma/etc.
If you open your eyes it shouldn't necessarily void the prayer, just make it more difficult for you to focus and summon the proper energy to successfully execute it.

Prayer is one on one communication with God. It can be done walking, driving in a car, or sitting still. It does not matter how you pray, just pray for the right things. A true heartfelt prayer is not selfish. It is for the need of something critical to your life, your mission, someone else, someone else's mission, or God's plan. Ask God what you should pray for, for the Word says that we ask amiss on our own, but the Spirit can make intercession for us. This is how we learn how to pray. Try it. I guarantee on by God's Word that it will work. You will see a change.

The word importunity denotes perseverance in an object, without any regard to time, place, or circumstances--an improper perseverance. By this the man was influenced. Rather than be disturbed, he would rise and give what was asked. This is to be applied to God in no other sense than that he often hears prayers and grants blessings even long after they appear to be unanswered or withheld. He does not promise to give blessings at once. He promises only that he will do it, or will answer prayer. But he often causes his people long to wait. He tries their faith. He leaves them to persevere for months or years, until they feel entirely their dependence on him, until they see that they can obtain the blessing in no other way, and until they are prepared to receive it.

Of course not!! Like others have said it is all about your relationship with Jesus, not if your eyes are open or closed. If that were the case all of us parents with small children would surely be in trouble and never have any answered! You might want to look at your life and see if there might be something like an old grudge or something that you haven't forgiven someone or even yourself for. Try turning your whole life (everything!) over to God and see what happens. Eyes open or not! I drive and pray and talk to God as if He were with me, because HE IS everywhere we go. He knows what is in your heart. God bless you!

No, the bible says that closing your eyes is just to prevent you from getting distracted. Secondly not all prayers could possibly come true. Is they did, no one would be in the hospital and everyone would win the lottery.

You can pray with both eyes open, if you don't believe in what you are asking, it will never happen anyway. Belief is not a state of eye lids it's a state of knowing and feeling that the outcome will be certain in your favor.
