I understand that people have the right to believe whatever they want to believe. I also understand that there are MANY different religions, and non-religions, that people associate themselves with. So then, why do some people feel the need to constantly attack others for what they believe in??? I am a Christian, but I do not attack people and tell them they are going to hell just because they don't believe the same things I do. I simply share my opinion from my point of view. Why can't others do the same, instead of insulting whatever religion is being discussed?

AND I am not attacking anyone with this question...I just was wondering what others thoughts were on this subject. I have NEVER been one to attack people on here.

"Fighting on the internet is like running in the special olympics: even if you win, you are still retarded." (not trying to offend anyone who has any mental handicap or disability...it's just a quote)

Perhaps, you should make this difference. One thing is attacking "others for what they believe in" as you put it. And something different is attacking ideas that you consider dangerous, but respecting those who believe in them. I think religions are dangerous, but I respect believers, as long as they respect me.

I'll give you my insight on this from my point of view. I'm an Atheist, and I've attacked other's religions before(on the Internet.) I have done it on the Internet because it allows me to vent the frustration of being told I'm going to hell and whatnot while not having any fear of repercussions because I am yelling at an anonymous person. However, I don't really have anything against religion, and I would never attack someone's beliefs in real life. I think being behind a computer and being able to remain anonymous brings out the worst in people.

Because when a Christian approaches a non-Christian with the gospel, the implication is that the Christian's beliefs are superior. But the truth is your duty as a Christian is to inform others of your belief and what God says...it is perfectly stated in his words.. If Jesus were wrong about hell, it is because..1..He was sincerely mistaken, which disqualifies Him from being the Son of God because He really does not know what awaits people on the other side of the gate, or 2..He was deceptive, which also disqualifies Him from being
either the Son of God or even a nice person because He intentionally misled people. If you accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God, then it is impossible to dismiss what He revealed to us concerning the fate of unbelievers. God wants to see all of us in his Kingdom...who better to explain to others than the ones who know?

There are a lot of hypochristians who say, "I'm not attacking you, I'm sharing god's word." Are you that of that ilk?

The majority of the time, so-called "attacks on christianity" are prevarications by christians who were stopped from attacking others.

The only moral christians I know are the ones who keep their religion to themselves. They act like civilized people and have to be asked to tell their religion.

Because there is a huge difference between religion and spirituality. Lots of times religion teaches people to be close minded.

Men who are thus exposed become suddenly filled with reverence for the law, or for religion; and they, who have heretofore cared nothing for either, become greatly alarmed lest the public peace should be disturbed. Men slumber quietly in sin, and pursue their wicked gains; they hate or despise all law and all forms of religion; but the moment their course of life is attacked and exposed, they become full of zeal for laws that they would not themselves hesitate to violate, and for the customs of religion, which in their hearts they thoroughly despise. Worldly-minded men often thus complain that their towns, and cities, and villages, are disturbed by revivals of religion; and the preaching of the truth, and attacking vice, often arouses this hypocritical conscientiousness, and makes them alarmed for the laws, and for religion, and for order, which they at other times are the first to disturb and disregard.

Well, you are telling them they are going to Hell because they don't believe what you do. Kinda sounds like your better than them right? I'm a Christian too, but you shouldn't approach them like that. That's probably why they attack you.

Most of the attacking is done by 'christians' either by directly criticising or by preaching and telling the rest of us that we are going to burn in hell.

Because that is just what sinners do. Everyone is a sinner. We are not a perfect world. Everyone wants to be right. Everyone wants to be heard. Some people just do it in a rude way.
