There should copies of the adoption papers/amended birth certificate, which would tell you where you were adopted from (agency, state, etc). Then I would contact that agency/state and see what they can tell you. There is a number on your amended birth certificate which correlates to a number on your original birth certificate. You will probably have to fill out paperwork stating why you are wanting this information and then hope that your birth family has filled out the same paperwork saying it is ok. If the birth family has made contact with the agency saying that he is wanting to be found, then the agency will make contact with you

Look on adoption.org, adoption.com, and MySpace (there is an Adoption group).
If you are over 18, you can also contact the Child Welfare Dept in the county you were adopted, as well as the adoption agency your family used, if any.
Laws vary from state to state about what info will be available to you (and what may have been available to your parents about your birthparents).

Let it be, they adopted you out due to the fact they couldn't raise a child at the time. hopefully they gave you a gift of a balanced 2 parent family. If so, your adopted parents are you mom and dad, leave it at that. Finding them will only bring pain and regrets on there side. Just be happy and live your life.

It differs with the state you were born in and can be complicated. For a really good web site to learn how step by step, see:

Ask your parents who adopted you, I'm sure they will try and help you. I adopted my daughter and I would surely try and help her. Just dont put any expectations on anything, it could take some time.
