Where are getting your facts?they argue about lots of things I don't believe you are right about your choice. I think they argue more about immagration.

I was raised in the Methodist church, an easygoing bland, white-bread version of Protestant Christianity. Later I went with a boyfriend to a Baptist church and started to learn about the smug hypocrisy and unshakable arrogance of some of the more fundamentalist so-called Christians. It was interesting how they would pick and choose which scripture verses to interpret as figurative and which as literal.
Of course the media have publicly exposed the private sins of some of the televangelists, showing the ugly truth behind the holier-than-thou facades. Some other televangelists are obviously money-grubbers who believe in self-enrichment more than in God.
This doesn't even begin to address the issue of the closed-minded, self-righteous proselytizers who are overjoyed to tell someone how they will certainly go to hell if they dare express a divergent point of view. How likely is it that only one religion has it all right and everyone else has it all wrong? Naw, I don't think so.
Does that help? I'm not trying to say that Christianity is bad, but some folks sure seem to practice it in a cruel, divisive way.

Its because they have the spirit of Anti-Christ.
Its the telling of the times.
2 Timothy 3:
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1 John 2:22 - Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:3 - And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2 John 1:7 - For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Religion is the biggest debate because there is simply no way of telling who is right. This argument may as well last until the end of time.
I would like to point out that although some people attack Christians and their beliefs, Christians also accuse non-believers of working for the devil. Either way, no one likes to be told that they are basically evil.

STEP 1 :
when i say something atheistic (whatever that is), they tell me that Jesus also died for my sins.
STEP 2 :
Then i have no choice than to figure out for myself who Jesus is, and what 'sin' is.
When i try to figure those things out, i have a million of questions about it.
STEP 3 :
When i ask those question, the christians tell me that i might burn in 'Hell'.
So, i try to figure out what "Hell" is, have a million questions about that again.
STEP 4 :
When i ask those questions, they accuse me that i bash their religion.
Don't they get that when they don't tell me that Jesus died for my 'sins', that i would never come to step 4 ??
I think the biggest reason is that people can't handle unjust arguments. An unjust agrument is for example telling a person who doesn't believe in God nor Jesus, that Jesus also died for his sins. The argument will never make sense to a non-believer.
For myself, i hate the condemnment that some christians practice, mainly based on an old book. Condemnment about homosexuals, abortion, pre-marital sex, etc.
Besides that (i could even live with all that condemnment, if needed), i think the world would be a much better place if the sentence "u'll burn in hell for that" would be erased from christian vocabulary.

I think that maybe you are just more sensitive to attacks on christianity. Or you don't spend enough time looking at other questions. Because there are generally alot of questions bashing scientists/evolution believers. Like do you really think you come from monkeys? And I've seen alot saying muslims are one thing or another.
But I think people in the US are very resentful of Christians because there's a feeling that christians don't respect people of other faiths. It creates a bitter feeling that alot of people take very seriously instead of shrugging it off. And there's this group of loud, vehement christians telling them they're going to hell, and trying to impose their beliefs to restrict others.
I also think that alot of times the christian bashing questions are ernest, but clumsy, attempts to reach out to christians and show them the reasoning that made people chose other lifestyles and beliefs, to show them that it's possible and try to get them to respect that.

The biggest debate in real, day-to-day life is religion, so it would make sense that this site would reflect that. Christianity gets picked on because lately Christians have been very in-your-face about their religion, with all they gay-bashing and anti-stem cell research nonsense.

I think it is because many people are just angry in general and don't like the fact that people have such a firm belief in something and they can't seem to find something to believe in. Or maybe it's because they have nothing better to do than attack people who don't share their beliefs just for the heck of it. Notice that most of the attacks do not come from Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist...etc...I think it's because the people of these religions also have a strong belief in their religion and know that they would not want someone to attack them for it. I appreciate the civility shown by those who have chosen to try to get along. Thanks.

I beleive alot that has to do with it is the fact that we speak the truth.....and the truth is what isnt always accepted.....the world tends to make things up as they go...for instance.....one will tell themselves that it is ok to steal something because they earned it.....well the Bible tells us not to steal.....so when that is heard by the one who steals then they feel uncomfortable and disagree because they are feeling conviction...well we all know that the feeling of conviction by God in our lives is not a good feeling....we tend to make up our own rules as we go to make us feel better and the Word of God never changes...it is what it is and that steps on alot of our toes at times...so when that happens we tend to reject it and call it stupid and instead of taking heed to what the Lord has put in front of us to help us we bash it because we feel convicted......so therefore the lashing out against christians is understandable because no one wants to know they are heading down the wrong path......if you notice...when another religion states things the same way they are received...because the truth is not in it......

I have noticed that many Christians respond with great passion when their beliefs are being ridiculed. This makes them an easy target for people that are just cruising to stir up trouble.

My reasons to dislike and abandon Christianity
1. Christianity is based on fear. Throughout almost its entire time on Earth, the motor driving Christianity has been—in addition to the fear of death—fear of the devil and fear of hell. To non Christians this is an obvious attempt to keep the sheep following the flock. Baah
2. Christianity preys on the innocent.-Organizations like Operation Blessing and other Christian missionaries go to 3rd world countries and bribe starving children with food to become Christian. They also tell their own children that to not be Christian means eternal damnation.
3. Christianity is based on dishonesty. If you dont believe me, look up the story of Job. Or the story of Abraham for that matter. And there are countless examples of theiving, greedy Christian pastors taking people for their last dimes and promising them God's help.
4. Christianity is extremely egocentric.Because Christians consider themselves Saved, they consider the rest of us, a lesser citizen.
Another manifestation of the extreme egotism of Christianity is the belief that God is intimately concerned with aspects of, and directly intervenes in, the lives of individuals. If God, the creator and controller of the universe, is vitally concerned with your sex life, you must be pretty damned important.
Many Christians take this particular form of egotism much further and actually imagine that God has a plan for them, or that God directly talks to, directs, or even does favors for them
5. Christianity breeds arrogance-This goes back to those who are "Saved" are some how chosen by God. ANd the rest are trash.
6. Christianity breeds authoritarianism. Because Christians believe that the Bible is the Word of the ONE TRUE GOD and there are no other truths but this. They see no problem in shoving their dogma on others. Take for instance the removal of the 10 commandments from public places. THis is not done as an act against Christainity, but for the people. But the Egomaniac Christians don't see it that way. They see fit to deny women abortions, restrict marriage among homosexuals, and bar other religions from practicing in public forums as they do.
7. Christianity is cruel. From the Malleus Mallifarcum (THe Witches Hammer) to God Hates Fags from the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas. Its members picket the funerals of victims of AIDS and gay bashings, brandishing signs reading, "God Hates Fags," "AIDS Cures Fags," and "Thank God for AIDS."
But this should not be surprising coming from Christians, members of a religion that teaches that eternal torture is not only justified, but that the "saved" will enjoy seeing the torture of others. Or at least that is what St Thomas Aquinas said.
8. Christianity is anti-intellectual, anti-scientific. Christians are famous for ignoring all scientific evidence when it conflicts with the Bible. For example Creationism, Homosexuality, Abortion. Reincarnation, Ghosts, etc.
9. Christianity has a morbid, unhealthy preoccupation with sex. This stems from the numerous "thou shalt nots" relating to sex in the Bible. That the Ten Commandments contain a commandment forbidding the coveting of one’s neighbor’s wife, but do not even mention slavery, torture, or cruelty—which were abundantly common in the time the Commandments were written— speaks volumes about their writer’s preoccupation with sex (and women as property).
THis is why the Catholic Church is still against premarital sex, contraception and abortion. This is a direct result of the rebellion of Paganism that embraced sex as spiritual and holy.
10. Christianity produces sexual misery. Not even masturbation is allowed and all sexual positions besides the Missionary postition are against the Bible. You can look at all the Catholic Priest scandals and know that this is not healthy.
I could go on, but I think you get the point.
