why do women flock to jerks? what is it that nice guys are doing wrong?

Ahhhh ... the time-honored question! One that has baffled "nice guys" since time began.
Although there is no perfect answer (it depends totally on the woman), I'll try to offer mine.
Women want a man who interests them. Nice guys tend to be predictable, and run the risk of being considered boring. "Bad boys" on the other hand, are full of surprises, so there's never a dull moment.
Some of the answer may also be built into our genetic code: women are attracted to the confident, swaggering, boasting "hunter/killer" that will ensure the suvival of the species.
The true answer, I'm sure, lies somewhere in that mix.
The real question is: "Can a nice guy find a relationship with a woman he can love?"
Yup. But sometimes he has to be patient enough to let that woman discover the value of having a "nice guy" as her mate. Work on being interesting and unpredictable. Work on being colorful, instead of "beige".
You don't need to swagger, boast or fight. You just need to liven up your life to the point you become more attractive. Besides, you don't really want that woman who is attracted to the TRUE "bad boys" or "cavemen". They are destined for a life of disappointment and resentment.
Just be you ... and be the best, most interesting you possible ... and be patient.

Nice guys only seem really nice to some women, say, about five to ten years after they got knocked up by (or even married to---now there's a novel idea for nowadays!) the exciting bad boy of their youth. By then the nice guy generally has really made it in a society that rewards gentility and intellignce and has got married and had a nice family. On the other hand, the bad boy (now loser) is typically either out drinking or up to some other no-good or at home sprawled out on the couch wearing his wife-beater shirt and suckin' down yet another cold one.
Success IS the best revenge! Be nice; stay nice. Life'll eventually treat you nice!

I think nice guys comes off as a little too nice. They pay a lot of attention to the woman and that's where it goes wrong. In order for a woman to be interested, be interested in the girl, but don't reveal all of yourself to her. Keep a little mystery. And that's why women like "bad boys" because there's mystery, they want to know more about the guy, but he doesn't give up information about himself easily.
And yes, confidence is a turn on for most women. Have a back bone and don't let the girl walk all over you. If you feel she's starting to take you for granted, pull back a little bit and don't pander to her if she expects it.

Unfortunately women eventually find that boring. They feel it lacks excitement and its a turn off to them. They won't always admit it, but believe me its true. They would rather be with a jerk and complain about how bad he treats them, but the seem to stay with them. Don't worry, keep your head up and don't change. You will find a woman who can appreciate a nice guy.

Girls dont like nice guys becaues nice guys are too predictable...the thing about girls is they fall for guys while they think and wonder about them...they dont have to wonder about nice guys...another thing is girls like drama...and girls dont make sense..lol...girls fall harder for a guy that is an a hole that seems like there is a nice guy somwhere barried with in him..then the guy that actually is nice...nice guys are boring and too predictable...so dont be an asshole...just be less available.

It's more of a challenge... I admit it: Nice guys really are better boyfriends but, for some reason, we feel there's some kind of glamour to "taming" a bad boy.

Well... "nice guy"... I don't like you because you said on another question that you think blondes are stupid. So... maybe some people don't like you because you believe in stereotypes and judge others based on superficial factors?
