I have a 6 month old Boston Terrier and I noticed yesterday that her right eye is quite red, compared to her left one. She has quite a few 'rope toys' and I've seen her a few times "flopping" (lol) them around and hit herself in the head or what not, sort of figure maybe she hit herself in the eye... Do you think I should take her to the vet? Wait a few more days and see if it goes away?

Definitely irritated the eye, i would say it would be allergies but since only one eye is effected, it was most likely agitated by something scratching it, most likely the rope toy. You need to go to the vet if its still red tomorrow, theyll either tell you to put some artificial tears in them, or my boss has actually told them to try clear eyes or some kind of saline solution, which would be the best case scenario for you considering how cheap and easy that is, or give you some NPD ointment or drops to clear that redness up, they may also stain the eye and check for an ucler but i doubt its that serious. But def. go see what your vet recommends. Hope this helps and good luck.

Does the affected eye seem to be bulged out more than normal? Does it seem painful? Is she squinting?

This time of year we see quite a few dogs with grass seeds in their eyes. She could have scratched the cornea with a toy... you may never know.... but if it isn't better by morning, you need to find a vet that will see her tomorrow. Prompt treatment could keep the problem from becoming worse.

A Boston Terrier's eyes are very vonerable anyway they are so large and for the most part unprotected--this is something you should watch closely and as others have said if it isn't clearing remarkable well by Monday--seek help from the vet

LOL, yeah, I'm sure it's nothing. My dogs like to throw toys in the air, and someone usually ends up getting hurt. Just be on the lookout for odd secretions, like excess tears, pus, or really gross eye boogers, which could mean an infection.

she could have hit herself in the eye, but i would take her to the vet pretty quick and make sure it isn't scratched or infected. eye problems need to be addressed quickly because the eyes are so sensitive to damage...

could be canine conjunctivitis...aka pink eye. I'd go to the vet if it doesn't go away in a day or two. if the dog appears to be in any pain got to the vet right away.
