Smoking Cessation Classes.

Check with area universities for them. Ask your health insurance about where to get them and if you get re-imbursed for them.

My mother used hypnotherapy to lose weight once. The Hypnotist offered Smoking Cessation as well. You could try that too.

I know a guy that just made up his mind on Great American Smoke-Out day to quit cold turkey. It worked for him, but you don't have to wait for the day to come around again. (Third Tuesday of November)

The first thing must be the actual Will to Want to, Really! Take it from a 20-plus year Ex-smoker!

My decision came as I watched my Son getting older and watching me do this and a constant cough/heavy chest feeling.

The next biggies are; support and LOTS of prayer! Believe me, it works!

I haven't smoked since the end of Apr/start of May! If I can do this, ANYONE can!

Believe in yourself, get busy with something, chew candies, like I did for a few weeks and get the support.

What worked for me was really wanting to, and chewing the nicorette (they now have generic versions of this) gum, 4 mg. Loved the gum. Took me 2 years (I tried to follow the plan they have with the scaling down, it didn't work, I was told by doctor just chew when you want and eventually you will stop the gum). I did stop the gum and after that, no desire to smoke again really, not physcially anyway. Keeping fingers crossed.

I tried tons of methods. The one that worked was the
pill zi ban. It took away the nastys and most of the
urge. Left with abit of habit issue to deal with - and
favorite smokes of the day. But wasn't so moody that
i drove every one crazy. Way easier....I also switched
to holding a coffee cup alot - instead of a smoke. Some
people claim you arn't going to kick it if you don't replace it
with something to start with sunflower seeds - whatever - keep
yerself busy.........good luck

I used Smoke Away - available at WalMart. Been without cigarettes 18 months...after up to a 2 1/2 pack a day habit for more 26 years !!! Wasn't very traumatic at all...I wasn't even especially bitchy... Just keep a positive thought and you can do it !!!

You could do some research on lung cancer. You could look at some pictures of the lungs of cancer patients and hopefully you will never want to smoke again. I have lost a few loved ones to lung cancer and it is a horrible, sad thing to witness. My husband lost a kidney to cancer 3 years ago and was told to stop smoking. He is still smoking and I tell him if he can't quit for me then do it for our baby. Drink water, exercise, eat healthy and take vitamins and hopefully the urge to smoke will diminish. Good luck to you - I know its not easy.

Sunflower seeds, with the shells still on. They come in many flavors and give you something to do with your hands and mouth when you want a cigarette. It will help you reduce a lot, and even quit, but you have to want to and be willing to suffer a little, cigarettes are more addictive to cocaine.

insted of taking a break from the day and taking a smoke.. how bout you take a break from the day and have one of ur favorite lolly pops!! it works for sure cause insted of niciteen you can have sugar... now please be aware once someone stops smoking they usally gain wait cause they start eating more food for sum odd reason!!??
