They start out with just a few bumps. Sometimes on the bottom of my foot, between my toes (rarely) and on the sides of my feet. They itch REALLY bad. When I start to scratch (I can't help it), they peel. Eventually, they multiply, but stay constricted to the same area. It doesn't seem to spread from foot to foot or any where else on my body. The doctor said she didn't know what it was, not athletes foot, though. Antifungal creams have not worked in the past. They seem to only appear in the spring or summer. What the heck is this and how do I get rid of it??

If this was your family doctor, try seeing an allergist or a podiatrist (foot doctor) for possible diagnosis. I'm sorry your doctor is stumped but that means that you need to explore other options as only a doctor will be able to diagnose you. That doctor will need to examine your feet.

I suggest an allergist first due to the nature of your description...the bumps and the itching. Had you gotten new shoes recently? Just a thought. Good luck!

It sounds like you have chiggers under your skin and you are allergic to them.

Most people aren't allergic to them, so a regular doctor will most likely not know what it is.

Chiggers come out in the spring and thrive throughout the summer.
If you weren't allergic to them, then you would just see the red dots, where they live under your skin. They make EVERYONE itch like mad.

You're having a reaction to them, it sounds like.

I am ONLY an RN, not a doctor but I have seen, what you're describing ONCE, several years ago.

You need to see a dermatologist and he/she will give you a PROPER diagnosis. I'm just saying, that's what it sounds like.

In the meantime, apply some Calomine lotion to the affected areas until you can see a dermatologist.

Good Luck and don't worry. It's nothing serious. THAT I'm sure of.

TO ILSE72.......HI! I too am an RN. I don't think she would be suffering from an allergic reaction to the material of shoes or she would have the same symptoms on her other foot as well.

Yeah, this allergic reaction to chiggers just COULD be it.
I only saw this case one time and frankly I don't even know why I remember it. It was years ago. I guess I remember it because the doctor I worked for and I were really puzzled by it.

On his next visit, I asked him what the dermatologist had said. That's how I found out.

I tell you. It had us going! Lol.

I have spent thousands of dollars on doctors and dermatologist and prescriptions creams, I even tried the expensive Luzu 1% didn't work for me. My aunt from Florida told me to boil in a large pot mashed up 2-3 lemmongrass with 2-3 handfuls of guava leaves and 2 to 3 hands full crystal sea salts. And about 2 gallons of water for 30-45mins, drain the water to the bucket and let's it cool down abit. It shouldn't be too hot or too cold. Shoak your feet in for 30mins. At first feel like tiny needles poking your feet like when you have a numbing feet. But keep then Shoak till you don't feel that anymore. empty that water afnd make a new batch for every uses. Your feet will feel dry but itches should decrease. Repeat this at least twice a day for maximum for a week. You'll notice the improvements when your skins start peeling (let them fall out naturally, don't force)nd no itchy.

I am observing since last 2-3 months. Today I am seeing the similar bubble near to the previously dried dark spot. Don't know the exact reason. I am going to consult a dermatologist tomorrow.

From the sign I concure it's a fungal. You didn't mention how long and how often did you use the anti fungal. If a bumps only showed up every summer and spring maybe it's an allergy do to the season. Why don't you take an allergyc test?

My wife and I get something similar. We've always dubbed them "heat blisters". They come in the hot times when we sweat. It itches and peels skin off. Like you say, it seems to multiply when you itch it. For us, our doctor gave us a steroid-type cream to use. We still get it, but not as much. If your feet sweat a lot, change your socks often or wear sandles and the like. Foot powder may help combat the wetness, if you have this problem, too.
