I fully endorse your view. The theory is to make mass public foolish exploiting the situation to the benefit of clergies.

I'm not really a big Bible scholar, but I do know this about the gospels: They were written by Jesus' folowers anywhere from 30 to 60 (??) years after the crucifiction, and are based on memory, thus the ambiguity in minute details. But I do believe that real people, followers of Christ, wrote them down or at least passed them on. I believe that this is true of pretty much all of the Bible. Minute details might be a bit off, the the general gist and nub is there and true. If you don't want to believe it, fine, don't. Live life by your 'theory' and see where it gets you. But it seems like you've put a lot of thought into a theory that just proves a negative, that something does NOT exist. As a scholar of sociology, I've learned that freedom to do things (a positive) will get you much farther than freedom from things (a negative). So keep on with your negative "freedom from Christianity" ideology and I'll keep on with my "freedom to believe in God's goodness and grace and love." What do I have to loose if God really doesn't exist? Nothing. What do you have to loose if God really does exist (and He does)? Everything.

Then what is the truth? History, not just the Bible, records Jesus. Even other religions, such as Muslim, record Jesus. They just don't see Him as Devinne and savior as the Christians do. Bible. Fiction? It took over two thousand years to write the Bible in its full and written by MANY authors. That's a long time, a lot of pages, and a lot of people just to write a fiction. Where and from whom do you get your information? What do you know that the Christians don't? Are things (commandments) like not to kill or not to steal a bunch of lies? Would it be better to kill who and when you please? Would it be better to take anything, from anybody you want, be a better way of life? Is intelligent design a lie too? Did things just "happen" one day? Nothing and nobody caused or created things? Hmmm. I could go on but I'll stop there. Read the Bible. Talk to a pastor and get their point of view. See why they believe as they do before you make judgment. I wish you the best.

You came up with that on your own. Wow. Let me educate you. Check out Simon Greenleaf the leading authority on legal evidences. There is nothing to dispute the life death and resurrection of Jesus. Iknow you've been hearing that all your life, but look into it. Dont be as a blind man. Forget about mans organized religion. I'm talking the real truth. Over the centuries have you ever heard of anyone producing the dead body of Jesus after the resurrection. That would have clammed the whole thing up. Didn't happen. Not only could they not come up with a body, no one ever wrote anywhere that they found it. It happened. If you found a coin and picked it up, you wouldn't say no body made it. Yet you look at the more astounding thing-The Earth and say no one made it. Think man. Peace.

Thank you for telling me, I have been doing this for 30 years and it has never failed, and now you are telling me it doesn't work.. Lets see if in the next 30 years you can live what you are professing and be happy.. If I am living a lie, it is the best one I have ever lived. I am extremely happy, living a good life before the Lord and I really don't want to change a good thing..

If you're right, I cease to exist when I die. If I'm right, you are subjected to eternal damnation when you die.
Let me tell you what I don't believe:
A) I don't believe the universe is random.
B) I don't believe that everything doesn't have a reason.
C) I don't believe that you would put so much thought into something that you really don't believe.
This is what I do believe:
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, sent here to save all people from our sins. The only way to Heaven is to believe in Jesus, repent of our sins, and follow Him.

In its origins, Christianity may have been more pure than you suggest, but there is no denying its corruption as its influence grew, and in my opinion that corruption included creation of doctrine and ideology meant specifically to be used as a political tool...
As for sum_dum's points:
A) The universe is plenty random...overall there's not a lot of order in it at all...
B) What is the reason for genocide? And don't say "to test humanity" because that's crap...total cop out...
C) It's called debate, and actually trying to understand the opposite view...critical thinking without blind faith...try it...

I happen to think you're the one who's living a lie, but to each his own. God taught me a long time ago to speak the truth, and then let people make up their own minds about whether to follow or not. I'm a seed planter and a harvester. . . I'm not called upon to make the seeds grow. That's God's business.

its true christians are living a lie. but they are too SPIRITUALLY BLIND TO SEE IT!
Not all theists are bad btw. it just so happens that christians and islamics are Maltheists. not your typical theist. they worship a sadistic god thats not even worth calling god.
Im pagan and on some level i agree with the atheist. but when they start saying all god worshippers are delusional thats when i draw the line. there i hope ive established clear boundaries.
christians have stolen parts of other religions and called it thier own. thats where I as a Pagan get offended and call them on thier lies. they want the world to acknowledge them I acknowledge them alright. I see many christians end up in jail,.and very very few Pagans.

Your question echoes some of what Karl Marx wrote when he called religion "the opiate of the masses." Your grasp of historical detail is a bit tenuous, but your point is one that keeps being raised. The central question most religions try to answer is: "What happens to us after we die?"
The blunt answer is that nobody living KNOWS what (if anything) happens after death. Each religion provides its version of "the" answer. Secular philosophy has suggested other possible answers. But, don't worry, we'll all find out eventually.

Sorry, You are living the lie. Christ/God set's you free from Satan's bonds that make you think that way.
You are trapped. I am free in Christ.
Government wants to restrict religion to control the masses. Christianity strives for freedom.
