Sadness is a funny thing. It is not really because you are lacking something but it is because you lack giving something. If you wait for someone else to make you happy, you will be sad. But if you work on making people happy, including yourself, your happiness will be multiplied, as if happiness is contagious. I know this seems backwards but this has long been my observation of it.

So, look around to find someone who has more reason to be sad than you and then do something, even something little, to make them happy. There are a few billion people like that out there.

I think you will be surprised how well this works.

Do you know the cause , grief over a loss is normal and can take time, talking about it with someone who knows
( family ,friend ,councilor ,pastor and the like will help) start with family or friends first.
Exercise helps , fresh air and sunshine go somewhere see something new
Take a class , watch some children running and playing, think of happy times, if these don't work some people have a chemical imbalance that holds the brain back ,anti depressants aren't like they sound they just get you to normal , not delirious like some people think. Alcohol is really a depressant. Caffeine is a stimulant be careful don't play with any street narcotics that will make a way bigger problem.
I hope the best for you. Oh also a pet may help.

There are a lot of cures, but the real question is, what cure works for you.

Think about what you like to do, and do it, to get away from your thoughts of whatever is going on. I kn what its like to be sad, and it sucks. Just try ot get your mind off of it with different hobbies that you have. I personaly like reading as an escape because its like you're not there, your in a different world and can let go of your troubles for a while.

Good luck, and I'm sorrya bout what hapepned ot make you sad.

making friends can be hard when your sad and chocolate can be bad because the sugars in it and it will only give you a moment of happiness. do stuff that would normally make you happy. try painting or something creative. i draw sometimes then later get lost in it and draw for hours. too bad i threw away all my drawings. it doesn't matter how your drawing looks, a student in school made a drawing that the teacher said is going to be an F. i told that student it was one of the nicest painting i ever seen. i think everything can be art. talk to yourself in the mirror, its going to be funny and that's what will make you smile. do that 3 times a day, make a daily goal like your going to be a positive person today, say something positive. talk to people, shake their hand, look them straight in the eye. try to make daily interactions with people, have someone participate with you, say to that person "i like you" and have that person say the same. do the handshake thing, this is the first thing you can do before you can talk to someone and make new friends, remember its not the amount of Friends you have which will make you happy. its having a real Friend. this can't work if you have depression, that's a disorder, you need to see a doctor. also, pray to god.

Rxpress the sadness and then move on. Don't dwell on being sad or the loss you've experienced. Start making a success plan and work the plan daily. You'll soon forget about sadness.

However, if your sadness has been hanging around for a while, or you have thoughts of hurting yourself, get to a doctor ASAP.

I agree with dee on this one. pray to God to help make your sadness go away. The lord loves everyone of us,and he asks us to turn to him and give our burdens to him. I will pray for you, if you pray from the heart the sadness will be lifted.
