*sigh* I love people like you. It gives me a chance to explain a common misconception.

Actually, in the original text of the Bible it says, "Suffer not a poisoner to live." However, at the time of the translation of the Bible from Latin (which is also not the original language) into English, the word was changed to "witch." There are many theories as to why this happened, from simple mistranslation to a conspiracy by the Church of England to make knowledge of herb-healing and "cures" against curses, hexes, and an odd assortment of other things that the medieval population believed in, an even greater crime, as it was now in the text of the Bible. Those who subscribe to the conspiracy theory, which I do in part, believe that this was done at the peak of the witch-hunt phase in history as a purposeful attempt to ferret out more of those who would not tolerate being under the Church's collective thumb. We believe that they twisted a simple, straightforward "poisoner" to mean poisoner of souls, which is how they saw those they termed witches at the time (although these so-called witches often did not think of themselves that way, and most did not attempt to make any sort of deals with an evil being known as Satan that really only those from a Judaic religion believe in).

I have to kill witches? And my neighbor is a witch? Looks like we'll be throwin'' another Stake on the bar-b.

Git outta town. I am supposing you have been told a million times those rituals and ceremonies of the former law have ended. The Former covenant is used to gage sin by, for without the written code, there is no formal sin.

Therefore, the ritual killing of a witch is done away with - BUT the law still serves to tell us it is a sin in God's eyes. Whether everyone agrees with that or not.

"That's the Old Testament! The New Testament is different because God stopped being hateful, jealous, angry, and vengeful and he's now sweet as a cute little puppy!" Funny how so many Christians say that, but then they get in a tizzy if you dare to insult the Ten Commandments--which are part of the OLD TESTAMENT!! They use the OT to support their dislike of homosexuality, while also insisting that the OT doesn't apply to them!

Come on, folks, make up your mind here. Pick a testament and stick with it, mkay? Otherwise, you have to deal with the fact that the God who said that a witch must die, is the SAME God who said to love your neighbor. It is also the SAME God who said that he NEVER CHANGES--thus, if he made a law to kill witches thousands of years ago, then that law still stands, because God would not change a law that he made and then declared to be eternal. Last time I checked, eternity hadn't ended yet.

Well that is a choice for the individual to kill or not to kill witches. But the problem I have is if you decide to go with that killing in the bible statement it would be then reasonable to do the other things that are stated in the bible. Do you think one should be allowed to sell a daughter as a slave, too? Just remember that the bible was made up be a handful of power hungry people many of whom were barely literate and most of whom hated women. One did not know what the others were writing and that is the reason for all the contradictions. Better to use good old common sense (which you will not find in the bible). Kill nobody and try to be nice.

What type of witch are you asking about? Are you meaning the sense of the word as a substitute for the B word, or a real witch who worships the devil and curses people?

If the latter, then try speaking with your neighbor from time to time and explain to her that what she is doing will send her to the fiery gates of Hell where she will spend all of eternity. Dealing with witches is dangerous business, believe me. I do not know this from first hand experience, but a friend of mine does. Just take it slow and carefully. And for all those who feel I'm wrong in the head and don't believe in witches; they're real and really dangerous, especially since they are working with Satan and his demons.

The "don't suffer a witch to live" line is from the old Jewish rules; when Christ came, he brought with him a new covenant, one in which people aren't stoned- their reward/punishment comes after.

A lot of people believe in witches...it's sad. Like rap music, people glom-onto the identity 'cause they have none of their own. Kinda like Trekkies and such.

The "love thy neighbor" line is a good suggestion, even though; everyone is good for something, even if it's just being a bad example. Love your witch-neighbor; bring'em to Christ, aye?

Are you saying that your only choices are to either love her or KILL HER? Hey, why not be daring? You know ... Think for yourself. Go out on a limb here, and be original. Rather than go to extremes, think of doing this instead ... Treat her as an individual, which is what she is, and go from there. If shes cool and you like her be friends. If shes not your cup of tea be polite but distant. You know, be normal with her. Treat her like a human being, and not like a stereotype or a character out of a book or movie. Because you know what? In all probability she puts her pants on one leg at a time just like you do. The only real difference is probably where she buys her eye of newt and where you buy yours. ;-) ~ Peace & Blessings ~

First, I want to say the bible actually does say thou shall not suffer a witch to live. Second, I want to say that I am a witch and we are everywhere. That being said, it is amazing what people will do on the pretense of religious conviction. You are no better than any other terrorist, with your need to destroy anyone who disagrees with you.

The old testament says that about killing witches, not the new. the new testament covers loving thy neighbor, that's the newest rule, so that's the one to go by.
