I noticed that self-mutilation can get you fired, regardless of how many years you have worked, or your work history.

I want to know if any of these people who call people crazy or weird have any tattoos or piercings and if they do you are a self-mutilator, and if they do pull their head out of their *** and realize that would be like them getting fired for having a tattoo that someone saw when they weren't even suppose to be in that part of your shop or work like happened to me. I know self-mutilators and i trust them more than so-called normal people.

I've never noticed it nor would I fire someone for doing it. Self mutilaters are NOT suicidal or crazy.
Johnny Depp and Princess Diana are both self-mutilaters.
Self mutilation isn't about being unstable. I know a girl who's dad died when she was 7. She was a "daddy's girl" She didn't know how to deal with it. As time went on she found that physical pain is better than feeling mental pain. Same goes with some people who turn to addictions to ease the pain. It's also a form of self mutilation. So would I look down on them? Hmmm lets see. I am a recovering addict so I have no place to judge how some one else deals with their problems.

Most self-mutilators don't advertise that this is happening, usually they are only found out when they go too far. Most health insurances offered through employers have a mental health coverage, and confidentiality is a priority with therapists. If someone you know has lost a job because of this disorder, it is wrongful termination and can be reported to your state employment board. The most important thing is to seek help for who ever it is that is self mutilating.

It's not not self mutilation it can be drug abuse, alcohol suicide attempt.Employers look at time off you take and truthful your mental status at that time. Unleast you do any harm to anyone or it affect your work no firing should be done. FYI: get a emploment lawyer to speak for you. Good luck

Because it's a mental problem; and eventually a person could move to mutilating other people.

I wouldn't want to have an employee that has a mental problem, but it may be illegal to fire someone with a mental handicap, seek physiological help then contact the department of work force development (or what ever its called in your area) to see if you were wrongfully terminated

It should depend on how well you do a certain job but employers may look at it as a deterrenent in getting more customers. The people who buy from them may have complained about it to your boss and that is why he or she felt as if firing you would bring more people in to buy the products whatever they may be.

yes, they can't have someone like that even if they do a really good job. if something bad happens to you and your still working there. the employers are going to get blamed for keeping you at work, and with you causing all these problems it will make the place less profitable and you'll get fired.

Cause no employer wants a worker that is koo koo for coa coa puffs. Do you think the post office would hire someone that did that? If you are mentally off enough to hurt yourself, how far away could you be from hurting others?

Take the case of the Nurse who wanted a job. She has a tongue piercing...was told by the docs that she wouldn't get hired because of the tongue piercing...she sued...why did the docs win in court? Because of all the medical problems associated with piercing your tongue, the docs successfully argued that she demonstrated "poor medical judgment." The judge agreed. Excellent!

Becuase it's a mental problem, and mental stuff can always get worse if left untreated. You may do your job fine now, but who knows about a year or two if the condition is left untreated.
