Bi-polar disorder is not a personality disorder. Some medications for bi-polar disorder can cause weight gain, but the few pounds are far better than the misery of not having medication if you need it. Most people would be happier to see you be a bit overweight rather than to put up with your mood disorder symptoms. Your health is more important than your looks. Good luck !

I would ask your general practitioner if there is an extra medicine you can use that does not have this weight reap quandary. You don't want to vary drugs that will do less for the symptoms you're having to save a couple of pounds. What else i'd do is try to get a ordinary undertaking software hobbies in place. Additionally start a healthy consuming application in situation additionally. The undertaking and eating healthful are the fine factor you are able to do for your self. I appreciate where you are at on account that i'm in the same boat with different medicinal drugs I have to take for my health problem. Go to your medical professionals administrative center and discuss what is going to be satisfactory for you. Just right success

I have the disorder. I've done very well living with it. As a matter of fact I was once able to get off the medication for an entire year. Then too much stress hit all at once and I went back on it.
I find the best thing to do is not focus on the disorder. Focus on being positive, and being grateful for all the blessings you have in life. I list these things daily, in a quiet space where I won't be interrupted.
We have a tendency to get more of what our brains focus on. So don't focus on the disorder.
I've been on depakote and tegretol, as well as an antidepressant. I have not had any problem with weight gain on either of these combinations. I've never taken lithium, but my father does and he's skinny as a rail.

Unfortunately some weigh gain is a normal side effect with some bi-polar medications. Talk to your doctor, see if he/she might have some suggestions.

I am bi-polar and have tried several medications before finding one that works!
The first one (zyprexa) made me gain SO MUCH weight! You gotta keep in close contact with your Doctor. Let them know if some drugs cause these reactions, they can try something else.
Good-Luck :)
PS, your english is cool!

Hi I have been on over 30 in the best for depression and the only one that didn't make me gain any weight was Paxil Cr, I even lost 5 pounds, and it works pretty good..
I will make you extra tired the first month or so on it, and your sex life will not be so good for a few month till your body get used to it.

One of my friends is bi-polar. One minute she'll be sky high enjoying life at its best then the next she'll be cursing me out, its so strange. And personally i cant stand it b/c i dont like people to put me down. And her medication is food pretty much, so yea she is overweight.
(A good way to loose weight is to cut arm holes in a plastic bag and put it on like a shirt then put a jacket over that and run.)
I think your best chpice is to go to a doc.!
