There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but very few old bold pilots.
The Navy may put up with that sort of hot dogging but the Air Force would have that guy flying a desk.
There was some good flight footage. I had some trouble with the MIGs though.

Yes, loved seeing the sites around San Diego and Miramar. I used to work about 1/2 miles from Miramar on the 15. It was great watching those planes and during the air show they would buzz our office. Cool!

Its a really good movie. And ya, it is too bad that the F-14s will be decommissioned soon, apparently they're being replaced by the F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet.

One of the classics that made me join air force but after a stint i realised it not what movie makes you looks so.
yeah , the new generation of F22 and the relatively older F18 are more capable of matching the threats of new generation warfare tectics and air threats.
With Russian SU37 and MIG 1.4 ,
Europe's EUROFIGHTER , there is not much choice left.
The aircraft is aging too, so safety and maintenance cost are other factors.

Top Gun...what a great movie. I truly defined a period in American history. If you liked it, be sure to see the movie, Stealth. While the story is a bit different, it reminded me of Top Gun.
Happy Trails.

If he goes ballistic, I will too!
Maverick, you knew that hard deck was 2000 feet!
Nope, never watched it. But I worked in an electronics store and we used "TOP GUN" to demonstrate surround sound. It was almost always on.

I watched that movie about a thousand times growing up! My cousins and my sister of course had huge crushes on Tom so they would stop it and rewind it and watch it again all day long. Thank GOD it was a pretty good movie.
