w/out a seatbelt. at least uninsured you won't die. maybe have a fine or jail...not sure which. depends on the laws in the state you're in...but w/out a seatbelt you COULD die...and that's far worse.

Without a seatbelt is worse. The reason is this: You are actually statistically more likely to have an accident NOT wearing your seatbelt. Whether or not you have insurance is of no consequence to the probability of having an accident.

Insurance, in it's minimum form, only covers the other person. You are more likely to get more severe injuries if you don't wear a seatbelt. You could be sued for no insurance in the case of a bad accident. But with a seatbelt, you could file bankruptcy and still keep your life.

Hope that helps,
Jon

P.S. Anyone who tries to tell you that it is better to not wear a seatbelt (as far as preserving you life goes), is either crazy, or doesn't understand statistical mathematics.

Driving uninsured is worse. Even if you don't wear a seatbelt, it's better to have insurance if you get hurt, especially if the accident is your fault. Plus, the statistics on the effectiveness of seatbelts are not consistent and most EMTs will tell you it doesn't matter if you wear one.

I would say driving without a seatbelt is worse because you can always get some insurance while you're alive, but if you get bumped off for not wearing a seatbelt then you don't have to worry about a thing anymore.........

Driving without a seatbelt.

I'm an RN. If you could see the things we see in the ER, from people not wearing their seatbelt, you would quickly realize, that it isn't even a contest.

I think most people think they would be unconcious or die instantly and would never know that they were going to die.

This is not true.

You should see the pain they are in and the fear in some patients eyes, when they know that they are about to die.

Believe me. You would never ever drive again without your seatbelt fastened.

That would be a wake up call for sure.

It's too horrible to describe. I think giving graphic details on this site would be inappropriate. There are too many people who would have nightmares and especially the kids that might read it.

It's VERY disturbing. We don't ever get used to seeing patients wind up in such a horrific state.

Case and coffin closed.

without a seatbelt
if you crashed you could easily get hurt
if you crashed while uninsured but you were wearing a seatbelt would just cost more, but your life is more important than money

I would say seatbelt... because if you get in a crash you could die! If you were uninsured though and you hit someone else or something happened you could be sued and you could lose your license... Hm... This is a really good question.

uninsured, you might not get injured in a car accident even if you're not wearing a seatbelt, but there's still the matter of insurance if you crashed into someone...
