The Old Testament was a civil as well as a spiritual law. The Jews were a nation, not a church. It was between a nation and God.
Christianity is not a national, civil law. It's spiritual and between each individual and God.

I'm not sure which part of the old testament your speaking of but usually your type of question refers to those occasions where God ordered the killing of entire cities such as Jericho or Ai. If I'm wrong about this, sorry.
Anyway, i don't deny that those scriptures are in the bible. I do not claim that they are mistakes. Now let me ask a qustion. Would God have been wrong if he had ordered someone to kill Hitler before he came to power? Because we have history to look back on, most people would say "no". In fact many ask why didn't he. The form of the question may vary, but it usually is something like "how could a loving God have allowed the Holocaust to happen"? You may have even asked it yourself. I have. Well neither you nor I know what the people of Jericho would have done. Did he save billions of people by ordering their killing? Only a God who is omniscient would know those things.
Also a God that created the universe and everything in it including us does not have to answer to us. He is not my property. I am his.
As for getting one over on you, why would I want to do that? I haven't done much on this forum but you'll see that I prefer to address issues completely and point by point. With the truth on my side, I dont have any use for smoke and mirrors.

In the old testament times God had no choice. The penalty for unredeemed sin is death. In the Old Testament those that didn't follow the laws of God where hopeless. they had no way of redemption (Christ had yet to come) the only way for them was to follow the covenant and laws that God gave moses. So you see God has not changed the penalty for unredeemed sin is still death. We all die once (because of Adam's and Eve's original sin) but we all have a choice Eternal Death (Hell) or Eternal Life (Heaven) A common redemption was set in place when Christ came to Earth making it even easier to follow God because the old covenant was abolished. God gave a perfect sacrifice for all of our sins (past, present, and future). Sir i don't understand how you find this dumb. if you where to read the entire Bible (in context) then you would understand this. Sir i pray that you find the truth. There is always room for more at the Cross my friend.

Only mainstream Christians have to make up excuses to justify the behavior of the god of the OT; real christians have always known the bible is a scam. Original christians (ie Marcion, Simon Magus [who was the real Paul], etc. ) scrapped the OT but the Romans used their big gun to force people to accept it.

Lemme ask you this. Are we supposed to take up arms and kill the Nazi's still? Or how about going after those dang red coats? NO, why? Because those were specific charges for Americans for specific reasons. Those were God's specific commands to his nation at that time. Just liike the command to build a temple, which he also told one person not to build. Why? Because it is up to him to decide when the plan is to be carried out and by whom.

That passage is to be taken very literally, however
That was under the old mossaic law under the old covenant and that was the law of the Israelites handed down by God Himself.
By the way the law was given so that they would understand that they could not live up to those standards and be driven to grace through Christ.
19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Rom. 3:19-20
Christians are under the new covenant under grace.
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Rom. 6:14
we are still called to live by God's moral standards, but we are not called to live according to the mossaic law.

Ladies and gentlemen: this would definitely be a prime example of how Satan uses society's anti-Christians against us. First of all, you are completely out of context, re-read your verses AND...that was OLD TESTAMENT, bub. Second of all, before trying to insult someone like myself, or my fellow Christians, please try not to embarrass yourself by spewing bad grammar out of your mouth; nice English. Do you really talk that way irl as well? anyway, that being said please know this. I do hope you can go back through the Bible with the rational and unbiased open-mindedness of someone searching for the truth. The Bible is the ONE Truth, and it can enlighten you. Perhaps i could help you to understand,or somebody Christian of your choice..because we, as Christians, are meant to lead the way to God through Jesus Christ.I hope, someday, to meet you in the eternal life ever after...and welcome you with open arms. May God bless you. From my heart to yours.....! : )

Your ignorance has been exposed too, so drop the excuses.
If you hate Christians and their beliefs, then keep it to yourself.
You are just giving yourself a bad name. Hating religions is just like hating other races.
I think you need a mother to love and nuture you.
