I'm not stripping a few wires, I stripping 3 tons of wire.

The cost of the chemical and contaners and disposal would be higher than the value of the copper wire. Not worth your time or health. Why not grind a blade and mount it on the end of a work bench with a gaurd to hold the wire up so to only cut a slit in the coating, You would pull the wire across the blade at a 90 deg angle. Then just pull the plastic off. Means a little more work but would be the lowest cost way of getting the job done.

An organic solvent like Carbon Tetrachloride should work. Make sure you do this outside and with a gas mask on as the fumes are carcinogenic.

fire works but depending on the grade of the wire it could lower the overall weight of the wire they make a machine that will do it but its costly i just use a straight razor it sucks but works

My husband uses an x-acto knife...hes got 7 stitches to prove it...

burning looses weight..
