I am a student in the Uk and my mom earned just over the yearly wage amount to stop me getting the Financial aid that my friend gets, his mum makes £3000 less than my mum and he gets an extra £500 a year and gets an extra loan to help pay for his course. My mum still can't afford to give me money and i am having to work and distract myself from studies to make abit extra money so i can afford to live. It is rediculous, do you agree?

The people that need it the most get more. They can't be expected to pay as much as everyone else when they don't make as much. And even though they might get more money, they're still struggling equally as hard to compensate for the lack of income that they already have. See if you can get a loan from a bank if you really need more money or pick up a job. Don't worry about how much money everyone else gets, just concentrate on getting your work done and finishing school.

Have you ever thought about how hard would would have to work if not for the extra 500 a year? Probably twice as hard as you. College is supposed to be a struggle and parents are supposed to start saving for their children especially when they can afford to do it. Financial aid is just what it says it is AID its supposed to help you not pay for it. So of course people that make less need more help.

Because if we lower income families didn't get financial aid, we couldn't afford to go to college. I get financial aid and I still have to work to have enough money just to scrape by on.

Well, the answer is in the question.... His family makes less money than yours... the extra five hundred that his mother can't provide, is the extra five hundred that your mum can!

Unfortunately for you and many others, this is the way it works.

Try looking for scholarships of any kind.

Good luck!
