Yes I have spoken in tongues and I know it is real because when i wanted to stop speaking it, i could not. i just kept going..

Within Native American culture and spiritual practice there are whats called "spirit tongues". The person speaks in a language, or "tongue", unknown to them. It might be thought of as a kind of "medicine". I've done this, and speak two distinct languages in this way. One is obviously a Native American dialect, the other sounds like a Middle Eastern language along the lines of Aramaic or Hebrew or Arabic. How DO I know its real? Well, aside from the fact that I do it (and yet it isn't me doing it, if that's understandable) I've seen the results of it too. That's another story. I was also told what it was by a Medicine Woman, and I took her at her word. And while I make the assumption that your question was aimed at the Christian doctrine of glossolalia, now you also see that it happens to others and outside the Christian context. I think that lends credence to the experience. But, hey, that's just me. ;-) ~ Peace & Blessings ~

I have heard people speak in tongues, but I guess you are right, there is NO way of knowing it's real unless it happens to you> I will interested in seeing if you get some good answers, good question.

yes. Because it happened (and still happens) to me!
Furthermore, it's the Biblical evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Read about it in Acts chapter 2

yes I speak in tongues daily....it is for edifiying oneself.as well as the BOC...it is one of the greatest forms of faith....for you see when you pray in the spirit you are trusting the Holy Spirit to pray your needs for you....there are great studies about this....there is not enough time or space here to teach it all.......but seek and you shall find the truth

hey furman! that is a good question you asked,but unfortunetly i have never experience talking in tongues before.i assume that talking in tongues is a gift from God. i also believe that when one talks in tongue that he is communicating to God in secret so know one knows what the person is saying to God.
