Christianity instructs to kill unbelievers. Here it is, the quote directly from the bible. So why exactly are christians complaining about muslims when there bible says the same thing?

"If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you ... Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die." -- Dt.13:6-10

That is from the Old Testament; Christians weren't around then. The terms "thy brother" etc. is referring to Isrealites. God did not want them serving idols. Please do a little research first before just grabbing something out of context.

Wow... if's like a whole clan of anti-Christian people preaching the same thing to one another... and acting like it's original. Do you stand in a line to pat each other on the back?

If you are not Christian, you cannot possibly have adequete knowledge of its Holy texts, nor can you possibly put it into the proper context. If you had the faintest bit of understanding of that which you critize, perhaps you could understand of what the Bible consists:

Old Testament - Genesis through Malachi

This half of the Bible is not necessarily a "Christian" text, but rather the Holy books and prophets of the Jewish faith. The rules you read were both taken out of context, and laws of the early Jewish faith.
In the days of the Old Testament, God had chosen the Hebrew people, the children of Abraham, to be an example unto the world, and to bring all the earth's people into love and fellowship with him. Being humans and falible... it was too much for the Hebrew people. They took wives and husbands from neighboring pagan communities, and converted to paganism rather than spreading the example of goodness that God had set for them. It was better to stone the converted Hebrew than to allow him to corrupt others, and bring God's wrath upon the entire city.
The God of the Old Testament was indeed the same God of the new Testament, but because of our sinful nature, was forced into action to answer the prayers of the victims that cried for justice.

The term "Christian" very literally (and obviously) translates into "follower of Christ". I defy you to find a passage where Jesus instructs us to "kill the unbelievers". When Christ died upon the cross, the rules changed. We were no longer obligated to obey strict religion regulations, or execute paganized Jews. We were merely asked to follow the teaching of Christ... to love God with all our heart and soul, and to love one another. Christ's sacrifice marked an ending to sin and death... if only one accepts it.

I was a pagan for ten years... I have been down many paths. I have studied my different religions up and down, left and right. I have found no greater answer than the cross. If you want to be an atheist, knock yourself out. But don't assume you can take a passage of the Bible out of context and not be challeged. Anyone studied in their faith can see through your thinly veiled resentment. What has happened to you that you strike out at Christ? At so many Christian you've never met? Truth is, I don't have all the answers... and that doesn't mean I'm wrong. Do we think ourselves so far advanced that if we don't understand it, then it must not exist. When I was a child, I didn't understand how the rain came and went, but it did not affect the truth of the weather.

As for me, I will take hope over despair anyday. You can whine or argue all you want... but in the end, if I'm right... I'm eternally happy. If I'm wrong, I'll have lived a life of loving others and trying to do right... who leaves a better legacy on the earth? Hope or self-worship?

One Love. One God. One Way.

Speaking of stones, ya ever hear that story about the time the Jewish leaders chucked a prostitute at Jesus' feet and wanted to stone her? They asked Him what they should do with her just to see what He'd say. He said, "Let He who is without sin cast the first stone." They all dropped their rocks and left. He then forgave the prostitute when she showed a repentant heart and told her to go and stop sinning. You need to take the entire Bible in its context before you pop off at the mouth sugar-pie.

wrong that was judaism not christianity.

Christianity started from the greek scriptures that begin at Matthew through to Revelations. You are quoting from the old Mosaic law of the hebrew scriptures which is defunct now that Jesus has come and gone from this earth and fulfilled his purposes.
Get a knowledge of what you are talking about before making outragous statements based on ignorance.

Sorry, but that quote is clearly from the O.T., and it's specific to Judaism...from which Christianity was derived, but from which it differs in many ways.

And what that line is saying that one should never allow oneself to be proselytized-to by people who are not monotheists, and that one should kill anyone who tries it.

It's funny, because Christianity is all ABOUT proselytizing, and--depending on how you interpret Christian theology--they kinda-sorta worship three gods. (Now, the way that *I* interpret their belief is that they're saying that there is one God, and that God has three distinct aspects. I don't see them as being polytheists...but someone else might interpret it differently than I do.)

Do Christians follow the O.T.? Yes and no. I really hate to by cynical about this, but it seems to me that some Fundamentalist Christians like to pick and choose which things in the O.T. that they'll follow. --Such as hating homosexuals (most ESPECIALLY hating homosexuals!), because "it says so in Leviticus." But then those very same Fundamentalists will tell their followers that they don't have to follow the dietary laws in Leviticus, because when Jesus came, He freed them from having to follow all of the laws in the O.T.

thats pretty harsh. well all reliogions are so overevaluated and people take things too literally. some guy in his basement could have written the bible. how would anyone know? anyway, the basic message of every religion is to be a good, righteous person and you will have eternal happiness. when you get too much deeper than that theres all those crazy rules and stories that people take to literally, or out of context. my mom is verrryy catholic and her priest told her that since i moved in with my girlfriend she should disown me. but i have a way of making my mom see when its just ridiculous and missing the whole point of the religion, just be a good person.

I'm so glad you took that out of context without knowing what you were talking about. I'd have been scared to death if you had actually tried to interpret it. But just in case you were sincere, here's one of the most widely accepted interpretations.

De 13:11
v6-11 It is the policy of Satan to try to lead us to evil by those whom we love, whom we least suspect of any ill design, and whom we are desirous to please, and apt to conform to. The enticement here is supposed to come from a brother or child, who are near by nature; from a wife or friend, who are near by choice, and are to us as our souls. But it is our duty to prefer God and religion, before the nearest and dearest friends we have in the world. We must not, to please our friends, break God's law. Thou shalt not consent to him, nor go with him, not for company, or curiosity, not to gain his affections. It is a general rule, If sinners entice thee, consent thou not, Pr 1:10. And we must not hinder the course of God's justice.

Oh yeah? Why doesn't the almighty god just strike him down with lightning himself? Hell, he created a mass flood killing everyone who ignored him, so why can't he kill all the unbelievers on his own? Maybe because he doesn't exist, and the bible was created by PEOPLE for the purpose of control. It's the biggest hoax ever created.
