Marijuana. It is an innocuous drug, giving pleasure to so many. It is safer than tobacco and alcohol which are our legal drugs. And the only reason it was criminalized in the first place was that the southern cotton growers did not want anyone growing hemp in this country because it was cheaper and easier to use than cotton.
A marijuana high is a mellow thing, and very "anti-violence". It won't make you do things you wouldn't normally do, in fact, it makes most people rather paranoid. It makes you feel as if time has slowed down, and that you can intake more or what is going on. It also has many health benefits.

I would be in favor of decriminalizing all drugs. This would serve multiple social and economical purposes.
Social: Drug abuse would be treated as a medical problem instead of a criminal behavior. Prison populations would be reduced dramatically and courts /police etc... could spend their time on true crime. Petty crime and murder rates would decline as the price of regulated drugs would drop and the black market thuggery would be diminished.
Economic: A well regulated narcotics industry would be able to generate tax revenues and import duties to sustain a controlled environment for distribution, quality control and treatment infrastructure. Law enforcement savings would be astronomical as we would no longer need such beauracricies as the DEA.
Caveat: This will never occur in the US of today. Major political changes (end to greed and fear as policy) and social comprehension (ability of the majority of citizens to think critically) must be in place. I see the opposite happening right now.
Ugly Truth: Those who oppose decriminalization are those that profit most from its current status.
US Govt.- DEA receives billions each year, CIA has profited from illegal drug trafficking in the past (no reason to believe it hasn't changed (i.e. Afghanistan is now producing more heroin than any time in its past,) US armed forces as mules, political/military influence in drug producing nations, etc...
Corporations- All alcohol producers/distributors, all pharmaceutical companies, all prison contractors, etc...
State and local police departments who receive funds and benefit from zero tolerance laws.
Organized crime and its shadow distribution system.
Organized religion.
The rhetoric used by these interests is easily refuted by research and diligent study. How many Americans question authority on any issue? Very few I must say and it is this reason alone that we have bought into the "first war on a noun." A war that was designed never to be won and to be perpetually fought.

All drugs should be legalized - then they could be taxed and the U.S. economy would boom! Besides, the war on drugs is a failure and total waste of resources. Let people do what they want, and let them be responsible for their own actions.

All of them. If they were legal there would be less appeal for teenaers to try them, it would empty out alot of people in jails and the government could tax it and finally make some money off the sales to keep other taxes low.

None. In my line of work I see the extending damage it does. So many facets in life are made ugly by drugs.

Marijuanna, the revenues alone from regulating and taxing it alone would pay off the deficit.
