and these are his exact words about tall women "they are physically/socially viewed as less than an ideal mate selection" well I almost busted his balls but I restrained. I'm tall,attractive, physically fit, educated with a good job...do you really think men think that way about tall women??? Or should I go ahead and bust his balls? Thanks!

actually many men inclduing myself love tall women!!! and in terms of mate selection well tall children do better so there goes his theory - you should go for tall partners!
mind you I am 6'3.5"

He sounds vertically challenged, and more than a little insecure about his height. I'm sure he's not alone; there are no doubt plenty of men who prefer petite or average woman. But there are a lot of men who like tall women as well. Don't bust his balls; why such a reaction? Do his words make you feel insecure? I say smile and give yourself a good pat on the back for being tall, attractive, physically fit, educated with a good job. You've EARNED it.

No way in hell! My best friend is damn near exactly your description, and she's gorgeous and tall too! Tell him a man of his intelligence level is less than an ideal human. What a bastard. Seriously. Who says something like that?
You just need a man who is smart enough for you. Obviously he was dropped as a child and you should by all means delete him from your memory banks and move on to another pool of friends. Or just kick him in the balls and run. That makes me feel better, too.

This clearly has to show about his own insecurity. A man needs to feel and show he is stronger than his female partner, is hard when a woman is way taller. Most women also want men who are taller than them. So a for a guy to see a tall woman it make her less desirable, not because she is less, but because she makes HIM feel less.
I dated a woman who was taller than me, we both had not problem with it, but we did get stares from other people.
so you can go ahead...and bust his balls.

He doesn't know what he's talking about. The fact is that most men feel that they should be taller than the woman or they feel inferior. Its like a napoleon complex. In the mind of men, when they see a beautiful tall woman they are in awe and would like to be with them. The problem is that they are too worried about what the public will think. Find a confident man, who is secure with himself, this is a man who will have no problem with your height. I am 5'9 and have dated and been in relationships with women from 4'11" to 6'2". Its not a matter of height, but the beauty she holds within. Don't let your friend mislead you. Also, I would be willing to bet, this friend of yours is shorter than you are and keeping a secret from you, that he would want to be with you if he wasn't so insecure with himself. Be yourself and don't worry about what others say. Your time will come and you will find a man who appreciates and loves you for you which will have nothing to do with your height. Enjoy life and be happy, don't let others bring you down. My best to you and all that you hold in your heart.

Like sweetie--how tall is he? Sounds like his idea of a mate selection would probably be someone "small" like him. However, I am 5'9", big, beautiful, and my fiancee is loving it........Who cares what his impression of tall women are; I wouldn't even waste my time, or dignify his remark with a come back; it's not worth it....
