I keep getting a bill and even calls about an unpaid credit card bill. I keep asking what the purchase was for but they won't tell me. Part of the problem is I can't understand some of the customer service reps. Their accents are so heavy I give up and hang up. I even tried going to the store but they no longer have a customer service rep in the store. They directed me to the telephone! When I asked for a purchase history because I said I didn't think I had made the purchase, they told me I would have to pay for it.

Now what? I'm not paying them to tell me what they are charging me for.

Do not be afraid to ask for a supervisor. That happened to me one time-- I could not understand the Hindu on the other end, so I kept say "Excuse me, what did you say?" Over and over and over until she got me someone I could understand.

The main thing is to not let it get more than 60 days old. If you do not get it resolved soon, you should go ahead and notify them in writing that you are disputing it. They will either produce a copy of the sales receipt so you can see it and identify it, or they won't. If they dont, then it will settle in your favor and they will have to remove the charge and reverse fees and interest charges.

I'm confused.

Is this a dispute about a single charge on your credit card, or are you disputing the credit card itself?

If you are disputing a charge, most credit card agreements give you only 60 days to dispute a charge. You need to get hold of someone immediately. Keep calling, and if you can't understand the person just keep asking for someone else. That's the problem with these overseas call centers....they are difficult to understand.

You may want to send a certified letter to the credit card company disputing the charge also. That way you can at least get it on record before the 60 day deadline.

each statement you get monthly will have the purchases listed
if you didn't put that purchase on it you should've called your credit card company right away after you received the statement
now where it is so much later you would have to pay to get those old bills printed for you but your credit card company can do that

Refer to section 809 of the "Fair Debt Collection practices Act"
Just type it in to your "Google" search.

I continue to see people answering question of which they have no knowledge. Section 809 clearly states that collection agency have only five days to comply.

Ask that a copy of the bill/charge be mailed to you.

Ask to speak to a supervisor.
