If you don't already own, "What to Expect When You're Expecting", you need to rush out and buy that book, NOW. Then you'll need "What to Expect the First Year". EVERY SINGLE PARENT SHOULD HAVE THESE BOOKS! They are priceless! I had A LOT of experience with babies and kids before I had my own, but as they say, "Nothing prepares you for Motherhood." Nothing EXCEPT these books. You are going to get so much advice from EVERYONE and it will all be well intended, but I'm telling you the only way to be sure about what you are doing is by reading these books (or asking the baby's Pediatrician). The first book takes you through your pregnancy, delivery, you name it! It literally walks you through each week of pregnancy. The second book takes you through the babies first year of life, a week at a time and then monthly. The books run about $15 a piece, but you can also find them at resale baby stores. You won't be sorry you bought them. It will give you peace of mind. Congrats by the way!! Babies are so wonderful!!!!

Ok lets see......make sure that the baby is not overly or underly dressed.......try not to go in the frozen food isle at Wal Mart w/o the baby's blanket.......at night time when the baby is crying(if you arent breast feeding) dont fall asleep when you are feeding the baby b/c milk will drip down a newborns face and into the ear and cause an ear infection. ALWAYS put on diaper rash cream even if it dont need it......no need of buying expensive diapers(White Clouds work good) if its a boy make sure you tuck in his lil winky down in the diaper......baby's can turn over at 2 months.....dont feed the baby ANY kind of food other than cereal before 5 months....dont feed the baby to shut him/her up.......................love the baby and TRY not to get frustated b/c they grow up sooooooooo fast just love the baby w/ all your heart......take pictures every day and if you dont have a video camera BUY one! Make sure you fill out that baby book.....most ppl tend to fill out all the birth stuff but forget to fill out the growing up part.....keep a journal (u wont regret it)

You probably know all of this stuff already i know this is really random stuff

but i hope that it helps oput in some way shape or form........love the baby like it going out of style!!!! Good luck

I had to answer because your baby is expected on my son's birthday!

I recommend you get your hands on a copy of "What to Expect the First Year." This is a good basic book that answers lots of questions related to specific ages and areas of concerns. It was very helpful for me (especially with my first child).

My one philosophical piece of advice is to know, when things are difficult, that "this too shall pass." There is SO much magic in parenting, but there are also trying times and it is important to know that it is normal to feel overwhelmed sometimes. When it feels like too much, knowing that just about everything is a phase can be a comfort... just remember that it applies to a lot of the good stuff too! Treasure every moment!

Check out http://www.babycenter.com When you sign up, it will send you updates once a week. There's also a great forums area, as well as message boards where you can speak with others that are dealing with the same issues.
