Answer to question: You have to train them to sit up first, then to speak. Try treats, they worked with my Woofer.

To expand upon the other answer posted- speaker wire usually has one side with a stripe and the other plain. Make sure the striped part is connected to the corresponding connection on both the speaker and the receiver, usually indicated by a + or a - and most of the time red and black. Also you may want to check on the receiver the speaker selection switch. Some receivers have an A or a B setting and a corresponding place in the back where you hook up the speakers.
