i have been trying to quit smoking.. i have even tried the patches and i can smoke with them on.. but it does not make you feel very good...i have done better on the patches where i am not able to smoke as often as i do.. but i like to smoke after i eat.. and i think if i did not smoke i would eat more...and gaining weight is not good for you either.. i tried many ways of quitting smoking and may work for a short while but i end up back with a pack of cigarettes.. i even tried accumpture ..i do not know if that word is spelled right.. and it word for a little while but getting around other people that smoked just gets you right back into it.. and it is hard to stay away from everyone that smokes.. and i think i am very nervous and grouchy when i try to quit smoking too..so i still smoke...i tried the check spelling thing and i knew what they thought the word was spelled like was all wrong so i left it like i had it....hope you understand anyway...i have even quit long enough that when i went back i got so dizzy but i was craving or thinking i needed a cigarette....

I quit cold turkey 13 weeks ago, my husband also 2yrs ago.
You have to want to do it. And I found that having some smokes still around it helped, that way you know they are there if you realllllly want or have to have 1. Give up first thing in the morning. And what I kept telling myself was is 3 minutes of pleasure from having a ciggy is it worth it? Because once you give in and have one you have to start all over again. It helps in the first couple of weeks if you can try to stay away from people that do smoke socially. Good luck and look forward to being healthier.

I was a heavy smoker for about 30 years. I quit smoking in April. I had the laser treatment. It has not been easy, but I think that helped. Quitting smoking is never a done deal, you must fight "urges" all the time. It does get easier with time, but I don't think the "cravings" will ever be completely gone.

I already quit! Cold turkey a year ago.

If you want to quit then you just got to do that - as in quit !!!
no other way
and no such thing as can't, not like someone puts a gun to your head.
And yes the cravings do disappear if you give enough time.
I don't hardly even think about smoking now unless I am answering here.

I've tried many times. my down fall is gaining weight when I try to quit. This bothers me, because I don't want to get fat.
