I suggest that you talk to a physician, they are your best source for advice. Did you know that even getting your upper ear pierced can cause nerve damage in your face. I'd seriously think twice about it. Also as a person who frequently hires for customer service I think you need to consider the follwoing question. Do you have a good job? Unless you plan on keeping that job or are planning on keeping your piercing covered you might consider your ability to obtain gainful employment in the future. Yes, I realize that seems like a very uptight stance, but unfortunately it is a reality. Many employers will not let you wear piercings in the workplace .

I would think the same as other piercings-infection,migration,keloid.
Seems like you've proven you know how to care for a piercing and know what you want.
Speaking of brain damage-the cervical spinal cord is one of the best protected areas of your body. The nerves are encased in bone. That's why it takes serious trauma to damage it-a piercing needle hardly qualifies!
Also-whoever has trouble reaching the back of your neck to clean it, you have a serious health problem-see a doctor.

Nah! I knew a guy a while back who had the skin below his belly button and above his hipbones peirced. He was a professional peircer and loved it. I would think it would be roughly the same thing since the skin has about the same tenderness and roughly the same fatty deposits and clothing would rub about the same. Honestly I don't think theres anything you can't peirce if its done by a professional and cared for properly after the peircing. If your in doubt ask a trusted peircer, but I couldn't see a problem.

There's probably a small health risk for getting anything pierced. If it's done right and taken care of, as long as you don't go through bone, I think your good.

other than it will probably be hard to take care of being on the back of your neck and i know my son got his tongue pierced and always seem to have trouble with infection and getting food it the place...even at time a person with just there ears pierced gets infection and they begin to smell...i have had this experience with my ears before.. i do not know if it was the earrings i was using at the time or not...but i do not really see why you would want to get the back of your neck pierced anyway....

Brain damage. Oh wait....that might not be a problem! Just kidding...why not just the nose or labret......or a good ole' belly button?? :o) Good luck with that.

No one is going to pierce your neck so deep that they hit your spinal cord (that is ridiculous). Standard risk of infection, migration and/or scaring, but that goes for anything you pierce. The place they would pierce is so superficial, they won't hit anything important. Good luck finding someone to pierce it though.

All of your nerves are running up your spine to your brain. I would not think they would even pierce the back of your neck. If you don't ask your doctor first if it's dangerous, then if something happens to you when they pierce it you have no one to blame but yourself!

Infection, the piercing can migrate, you would need to let it heal and then do it again. It's a tricky piercing, not all piercers are willing to do it. Make sure that you have a very experienced surface piercer.

I would think the chance of infection that close to the spinal cords could cause some real harm- anyway, YUCK, why would anyone want to do it there!!?
