I'm a data hound. Eventually, I will buy a car, and I know it'll be a 4-cylinder. I'd *LOVE* to somehow generate a list of all 4-cylinder models for the 20 or so most popular makes on the market (Honda: Civic, etc...). That way, I can develop a method and start comparing apples to apples. Any suggestions?

find a vehicle chooser program on the internet on a site like edmunds.com or kbb.com, it will help you choose what you are looking for.

Nocode is dead on. You can't just make a list of 4 cylinder cars. There are dozens of cars in that category. And you can't take a testimonial from one person and use that information to make a determination on what to buy.

Go to edmunds.com and/or get the blue book values for models that are attractive to you based on what those organizations have to say about each one. Then look at Consumer Reports' buying guide and check out reliability and other considerations like road noise and comfort.

Maybe that sounds like a lot of ground work - it isn't. Test driving a bunch of cars would be - they do that for you. Then you can test drive the cars you like that fall into the right categories and not have to live with a potential lemon for 5 years.

A dodge neon is one of the worst cars for the money. Not just because the resale value is one of the worst, but the reliability and cheapness of it is reason enough to stay away. Sure it might be fun to drive and, if luck has it, nothing goes wrong; but I don't like taking chances with my money. Would you take a 10 percent larger risk with your 15 thousand dollars?
