Sometimes you just goof up and make a fool out of yourself whether being interviewed for a job or in a social gathering among people you just met.

Is there a way to redeem ourselves and rid that reputation?

The only way to reverse a flubbed first impression is to change the way you act from the way you acted that time, and to behave that way in a consistent manner. That way, you're reinforcing that you ACTUALLY behave THIS way, not THAT way. Then, after the other person knows how you normally act, comment that you're really nervous/unsure of yourself the first time you meet people. This way, they can write off the first impression as something aberrant from your normal behavior. :)

You can work on changing someone's mind when you make a fool out of yourself in a social setting, mainly by laughing at yourself. But in a job interview, you usually don't get a second chance. Be careful!

there is no way to make a first impression the second time. LOL. But you can present yourself in a better light the next time you meet that person or group. But I think it takes a lot more work to right a wrong. So the first impresion can be so good that future faults are overlooked. Where a bad first impression takes 10 good future impressions to be in their favor.

Funny you should ask that! I learned in a professional development class this week that you have 30 seconds to leave a first impression with someone, but it will take 20 additional encounters in order to change that impression!

Time heals everything. If these people get to know you, eventually they will look back at your little embarrassing first impression as an old joke.

There is always a way to apologize for your actions and to ask for forgiveness. That first impression, however, is very important and unfortunately, it is most often our mistakes that people remember.

Yes, I definitely think that there is often a second chance for a good impression. It can't hurt to try!

Good luck. :)

yes there is, and if they don't want to give you a second chance then they're too rigid anyway. i wouldn't want to be bothered with someone like that. you might have just been having a bad day is all. if they're too narrow minded to think about that then forget them.
