Well honey, most of it is going to come from your GENETICS!!! But there are some things you can do to make yours straighter and more healthy. Here are my suggestions.....

I use "Just For Me" kids relaxer (Im 21, but Mixed, so I can't use the strong adult African-American perms because they break my hair.) Its better to use a weaker perm for your hair than a really strong one. A perm/relaxer that is too stong is the major cause in hair weakness/breakage.

I also use "Motions CPR" Conditioning Treatment every week. After you wash your hair, use CPR, put a plastic cap on and sit under a hooded/bonnet hard-hat dryer for 10 mins, then wash it out. (This is Deep Conditioning) This is the BEST thing you can do for weak, thin or damaged hair... hint *CPR (Critical Repair and Treatment). It really does repair your hair and make it so much stronger and grow fast too. It also keeps your hair healthy even if it already is. It's great!!!

I get my hair straighten once every season (spring, fall, winter, summer) so thats also the same time I get my hair trimed. You need to trim your ends too. This is very important to slowly get rid of those dead/split ends which causes moisture lost. Split ends causes your hair to break, because if it cant properly hold moisture, then causes your hair cutiles to open wider and break. This makes hair thin from the loss of stands and stunks hair growth.

My hair is so thick, healthy & long from taking care of it and using the products below. I'll give you the links. You can find all of this at Wal-mart, Sally's, or any Black hair store.

Also our hair is made of protein (all protein), so you may want to look into your diet and make sure you are getting enough. Taking a women's multi-vitamin (or pre-natal) everday will make sure you are getting enough of it, along with calcium which our hair also loves. You have to take care of your hair from the inside and out. Hair products take care of the outside. But you also have to check on the inside... your diet! to make sure your hair has what it even needs to grow and thicken.

I hope this is helpful to you.

I don't think we black people can have very straight hair. You could blow dry it or get a relaxer. I think Natural hair is the best way to go because we can wear hair straight by blowing it dry you can wear it curly, Bantu nots 2 strand twist and some many other ways. You just have to know how to maintain your hair and know the rite hair products that is rite for your hair type. I would find a stylist that could help.

You can have straight and flowing hair, but your hair is going to do what its going to do. To understand what I mean, go to a bookstore or maybe Wal-Mart and look at hair magazines. Everyone's hair is unique to them. My hair straight and flowing will not look like yours. Talk to a stylist and try to explain exactly what it is that you want. The stylist will be able to help you to understand what your hair will do in different situations. Find out what you like best and go from there.

I knew one girl in high school who had very long hair. Her great-grandfather was white, and supposedly that was why. She had very few black friends though; they treated her poorly because she had long hair, said she couldn't be Black and called her Pocahontas.

Get it done professionally! You don't have to get it done all the time, just get it permed, and keep it up! don't use a lot of grease, use Olive Oil sheen spray! this is what works for me!
