Christians (Protestants) and Catholics are alike in that they both follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, but they differ in two major ways. Christians believe that you can pray to God directly whereas Catholics believe they need a priest or Mary, or the Saints to intercede on their behalf. Another major difference is that Christans believe in Heaven and Hell whereas Catholics believe there is a place in between called purgatory. Oh, and another big difference is Baptism. Chrisitans believe that Baptism is a public declaration of their faith in following Christ. Therefore Baptism is only for those who are old enough to make that decision. Once their faith is declared, Christians are baptized by being fully immersed in water. Catholics believe in baptizing babies, and water is only sprinkled on them.

I think those are probably the things that separate Christians from Catholics.

Some (Matt.7:14)Christians are different because they follow the Word of God(Luke 4:4), Jesus(Col.2:6) and the Apostles(Eph.2:20).
While many other ones(Matt.7:13) are following the Catholic Church and not the Word of God, (Phil.2:21)Jesus and the Apostles.

Example:
Evidence: (Catholics know when the seventh day is)
"1. Is Saturday the 7th day occording to the Bible & the 10 Commandments.
"I answer yes.
"2. Is Sunday the first day of the week & did the Church change the 7th day--Saturday---for Sunday, the 1st. day:
"I answer yes.
"3. Did Christ change the day
"I anser no! Faithfully yours,
"J. Card. Gibbons"
--Gibbon's Autograph letter.
"Ques.--Which is the Sabbath day?
"Ans.--Saturday is the Sabbath day.
"Ques.--Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
"Ans.--We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday."--Peter Geiermann, The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (1946 ed.), p.50. Geiermann received the "apostolic blessing" of Pope Pius x on his labors, Jan.25,1910.
Bible Readings pg.194.

(Dan.7:25 tells us "he will think to change laws and times")

Mostly (Rev.17:5)"Mother of Harlots" means it has "daughters" that are following the church's beliefs. Many don't know that the Catholic Church has "casted all the true doctrines to the ground and replaced them with false ones(Dan.8:12).

For example:

CATHOLIC CHURCH--
Trinity, Going to heaven, Rapture, Jesus's Death Friday and Resurrection Sunday, Worship Sunday, Pagan Feast Days and etc.

SUNDAY CHURCHES--
Follow the same beliefs.

SDA(Seventh Day Adventists)--
Trinity, Going to Heaven, Pagan Feast Days, Jesus's Death Friday and Resurrection Sunday.

OTHER SABBATH CHURCHES--
One or more of the Catholic Doctrines.

JEHOVAH WITNESSES--
Jesus's Death Friday and Resurrection Sunday

Much. Christians only believe in Baptism and the Lord's supper as necessary. The Catholic church has seven sacraments.

Seven Sacraments vs. the two of Baptism and the Lord's Supper
1. Baptism - Biblical - infant baptism in unBiblical
2. Reconciliation/Penance/Confession - unBiblical - Council of Trent (1551)
3. Holy Eucharist - unBiblical in terms of transubstantiation
4. Confirmation - unBiblical - Council of Trent (Sess. VII, De Conf., C. iii)
5. Matrimony - unBiblical as a sacrament
6. Holy Orders - unBiblical - (Moses was married, so was Zacharias)
7. Extreme Unction - unBiblical - Viaticum for this Sacrament

Christianity is the umbrella under which Catholics worship. Other Christians include Episcopalians, Protestants, Lutherans, etc. They all worship Christ, but have different ways of doing so and split apart from each other at various times of history.

Catholics are a type of Christianity, but just different from Protestants. Catholics believe that you have to confess sins to a person, pay to get people out of purgatory, and that the bread actually becomes Jesus's flesh. Protestants believe that the bread is symbolic and that all you have to do is accept Jesus in your life and confess sins to him. The relationship between you and God is just that- between YOU and GOD. Humans are imperfect, therefore confessing to them is fruitless.

Yes!!!!!!!!!! I am a Christian, not a Catholic. They (Catholic say they follow Jesus, but ) follow their pope, who has as one of his titles, Vicours Fili Die, which means, vicor of the Son of God. He also clams the title of God, claiming that he can forgive sins, which only God can do. I worship God, the catholics worship their pope. I am a Christian, they are not. For them to be a Christian they would have to give up their man-god, I do not hate catholics, just their belief system, which is purely pagan, they believe that tradition over rules the scriptures. I believe that the scriptures over rule everything.

I think the descrepancy arises when some zealous christians think that they are the only true "Christians".

But in reality, Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox (Eastern) are the three major subdivisions of the word "Christian".

And yes, there are others, but those three make up 99.35421%.

no, catholics are Christians. so are Protestants, Lutherans, Baptist, Methodist and Anglicans, they are all just different denominations of the same basic religion. the different names represent the difference in how they view the same information in the bible. the names often come from the founders of that denomination or the principle that they were founded on.
there are more denominations than i listed but there is no way i am typing them all up.
