Sorry, I'm gonna pull a Mainworry but this answers your question better than I could have hoped for
Parable of the Two Sons:
Jesus told a story of two sons. A father asked his first son to work in the fields, and he replied, "of course I will!" He then went outside and changed his mind and did not work
The father asked his second son to help with the fields, and his son relied, "No!" but later felt guilty and worked in the fields.
Jesus asked, "Now, which son did what was right?" and the crowd replied, "The second one!" Jesus said, "Ah, surely prostitutes and tax collecters will enter heaven before you do".
Athiests are the ones who say "No" to God, but often do what is right of their own choice. Christians are the ones who say "Yes" to God, but then act in the opposite manner as they should.

God does exist, or you guys wouldn't spend so much time denying Him. You know in your heart He exists.
An atheist doesn't believe in God, so why would God want Him. Why would the atheist want to spend eternity with something he doesn't believe in. The atheist never did anything bad? He doesn't have to, he is a sinner by nature. God would take the murderer because he REPENTED of his sin and recognizes that he needs a Savior and can not do it on his own.

My god takes anyone and everyone - my god does not discriminate.
The idea that god does not take everyone is something that is taught to people so that they will be too scared to be "bad". The god I believe in created us knowing exactly what we would do in our lives and doesn't punish us for doing exactly what he planned for us to do.
Everything happens for a reason. God has a plan.
If this is true, and I believe it is, then god planned for us to sin.
I think this is the most logical way to look at it and I don't want to believe in or worship a god that creates you to be a certain way then punishes you for it. It's just not right.
Christianity is one big contradiction after another and that is why I left the religion.
And I will say it again: MEN wrote the bible - NOT GOD!!! The bible is the word of MEN and men make mistakes, but god does not.

I think God would rather take an Atheist over any one. Those who believe shall be saved. An Atheist doesn't believe in Christianity and hates it/ . A christian might say Save the non believer.

Because the murderer humbled himself, and realized that he needed God.
The atheist obviously is to prideful (like the Devil was) to admit that he needed anyone but himself to survive. He remained seperated from God.
The seperation happend with Adam and Eve, and in order to be re-united with God you need to accept Jesus into your life. Jesus is the bridge between you and God.
Why accept Jesus? Why did God sacrifice His only son? Why not just forgive and move on? Well because God is a righteous God, and a man of His word.
When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, God told them they were seperated from Him. But with God being the loving, and caring God that he is already set a plan in motion to restore that brokeness and seperation through the sacrifice of His only son, Jesus Christ!
So that is why the murder will get into heaven. Plus i don't care how "good" you are, at one point in time you have sinned! Nobody is perfect, accept for Jesus!
God Loves YOU

No, actually God would say to the atheist, Hello, I'm God, Nice to meet you, I 've heard a lot of good things about you."Then God would say to the murderer (whom I assumed believed but also was not repentant)) "What part of Thou Shall Not Kill didn't you understand?"

Don't confuse God with The Marine Corps.
God is not looking for a few good men.
There is only ONE way, according to His very own Word. There is NO "exception" clause in these verses.
However, That's what makes the world go around. Everyone has a opinion.
Good Question.

Because the murderer had repented and recognized God as God, the athiest denied God his/her entire life.
And remember, it's not that God is choosing one over the other, it's actually the other way around: the murderer chose to be with God and the athiest chose not to be with God.

By the traditional Christian understanding of God, there's no such thing as a person who has never done anything bad, because we as a people carry the original sin of Adam. Just being born is enough to get you sent to Hell, or at least Limbo.
