He and I have danced around the idea of a relationship for a while and have never really made any progress. I really feel like he's the one for me but everyone I know is "worried" about it. Thoughts?

You should really go with your guts. I've always thought that love is about matters of the heart, but in relationships you have to make a truce between your heart and reason. Think things objectively and know that you must think of you first 'cause if things don't work out you won't have sacrificed to much of you. If you do realize that he is your happiness then wait, but don't make any promises that neither you nor him can fulfill. Also, talk with him: are you gonna keep dancing around the idea or are you gonna do something about it? His answer might be your first clue to your decision. Good Luck!!

being a marine, i experience that a lot. my girlfriend was/is in the same boat as you and she waited. in my opinion, i think it would be best to wait because you love him. look at it like this, lets say you wait until october and he comes back and doesn't want to be with you. you wasted a few months. all well. lets say you don't wait and you meet someone new and he comes home and wants to be with you, finds out you are seeing someone else, gets hurt and then doesnt want to be with you. now you will spend the rest of your life wondering what it would have been like if you waited.

I am speaking from experience. Never put your life on hold for someone else. This doesn't mean that you don't think of him or even talk to him. If the two of you are meant to be you will be. It doesn't need to be forced or manipulated. Don't wait around. If it is in the cards you will get together-regardless if he is away for one month, or ten years. Date other people. If you are meant to be with him that won't matter. Live your life for you.

If you like him, why run off for someone else? It's just a couple of months, big deal. Go ahead and wait; it'll make being together even better when he gets back.

if you think its worth waiting then give it a shot. i had been away from my girlfriend for 5 years and just got together last week. if you ask me i would say that it was worth it. let him go, and if he comes back to you, then he's your's :)
