That's real impressive how YOU view the Catholic church. How does God view it?
My friend, YOU don't have the Catholic Doctrine data in front of you. or, you simply have no clue what The New Testament is.
The last Pope signed an agreement with The Lutheran Federation. Why, is the Catholic church NOT practicing what The Pope signed?
.
Good Question.

I personally think the Catholic church does great work, they help so many. I also like them because their take on Christianity makes more sense...at least they have thought out the ethical dilemma of paying for your sins after you die. Catholics I guess just are more sensible about justice. Catholics also don't try to outright refute evolution....a lost cause and foolish to attempt anyway, poor souls who try....
Catholics are better at charity, that should make sense since without "works" no one would care for or even try to help their fellow man--it would be all about you,
catholics also say it is wrong to divorce, since Jesus himself said it was wrong, another thing protestants don't abide by----they have a much higher divorce and remarriage rate than the general population...I guess evangelicals just don't interpret their bible as clearly...they just pick and choose, unfortunately like most religions.
Personally, I think if a religion is doing some good for this world that is great- if anyone does that is great.
I disagree with any religion that promotes being self-centered--uncharitable, greedy and consumed with self.--- Thinking constantly that some divine spirit can read your every thought and watches your every action-- you wish!! --and believing the only good one can do is try to convert others to their religion. didn't the bible teach the three most important things: hope, CHARITY, and love, but most importantly, love.? The bible actually says a lot about charity, but the King James version decided to retranslate all those words to simply say "love". No wonder the dumbed-down restrained version of the bible that so many evangelicals tote is so lost on them.

I agree with KB. I was raised Catholic, as well. Everything KB said is, unfortunately, true. The monsignor of the church I used to attend, a man of the cloth I trusted for years and years, was imprisoned for sodomizing the altar boys. And I TOLD this man things!!! In private! The Catholic Church covers up more things than you can imagine...even murder. Check the history on the Catholic Church.

The thing about the catholic church is that, generally speaking they're not the most understand, or accepting organization. When you think humane, you think of someone who is accepting and understand, as well as able and willing to help.
In addition to that, they tend to help people that are, or are willing to convert, to christianity, specificly Catholicism.\
Not only that but the Catholic church has a very dark and sordid past, that is something that you have to keep in mind. Only recently have they started to make ammends for injustices that are THOUSANDS of years old. THey have a lot of catching up to do before they can really be considered human.

Because it so world wide and because of problems at various points throughout history, the Catholic Church is an easy target. I agree with your assessment. Generally speaking, the Catholic Church is out there trying to help. While guided by the Holy Spirit, the Church is still populated by fallible humans and all their frailties, and that is what people tend to point to.

Where I live we have Catholic Social Services and they help anyone with food, groceries, and household items. They don't ask your religion and they don't care. They exhibit Christian Charity to a very diverse group of people.
This does not mean I love the entire Catholic Church. But this particular group ain't too bad in my opinion.

I was raised a catholic, and though they do a lot to help other people...
they also raise women to stand up to an impossible standard (that we are expected to be like the Virgin Mary) and that the only role of women is to serve her husband and have children, and any other avenue is not right for women.
They also exclude homosexuals - which is bigotry, and cover up molestation charges against their own priests, which is very ironic.

The Catholic church has pros, cons, and attributes that are as valuable as the beholder finds them. Its donations to charities and missions abroad are very commendable. Its coverup of its scandals, and power-hungry positions its taken over the years...plus preaching poverty as Christ did yet the Vatican sits upon billions of $$ is I think dispicable.
As for the religion itself...that depends on your own views. I find some of it mysterious, some of it rediculous, and the rest all the same.

I think that they are good people. I just don't believe that they are teaching Biblical priciples.
However I do believe they will go to heaven because they do believe in Christ.
I don't hate Catholics, I just know that I am not one of them!
I am a Christian ;)

Ever seen this? It was used during the inquisition. Your wrists and ankles are torn apart while the spikes rip into your flesh. Thank you Catholicism!
