I strongly doubt your friend caused an infestation in your home, unless you have a pet on which they could feed. Fleas don't survive on human beings. The live on hairy animals, like dogs and cats, rabbits, birds etc.

Your friend may have the bites but the fleas don't stick. They bite and hop away. That's not to say he couldn't have had one or two stuck to him at the time he visited but they could not survive long enough to fill your home.

A house with infested animals will fill up with fleas in a short while. They can feed on the animals forever, and those that die off aren't noticed because new ones continue to replace them.

Yes if they have flea problem in their home or car it it quite possible that the fleas are catching a ride on their pantlegs or socks and getting into your home.

I don't know, but you should tell your friend that they can't come in your house anymore. And tell them why.
