I've heard that chi's are one of the best straighteners and they are not supposed to damage your hair-- but you need to use a heat protecter solution and put it in your hair so the heat doesn't damage your hair-- but chi's are the best way to go.
I have very very thick and curly and frizzy hair-- i got my hair straightened for graduation and the person who did it for me used a chi-- it worked really well

you can get it japanese straightened, here is some info:
Japanese Hair Straightening is a method of straightening human hair. The process can take between four and eight hours to complete depending on the length and volume of one's hair. Beauty salons in Los Angeles, California charge upwards of $500 USD to perform this procedure. Some salons in Chinatown, New York charge under $200 for the same procedure.
The Process goes like this:
Assessing the hair type and condition. Washing the hair. Applying protein to the hair, if necessary for the particular customer and hair type. (small extra charge for this procedure, if you don't do this when necessary, you could end up with a less than satisfactory result, the stylist will tell you if this is necessary or not in your consultation) Applying Solution #1 (this cuts the hair's "Cystine Bonds" - the bonds that hold curl or wave patterns). Testing to see when the hair is ready to have Solution #1 rinsed out. Rinsing the hair. Eliminating some excess moisture in the hair (blow-drying to a certain point). Ironing the hair in extremely small sections with a special Japanese Straightening Iron that reaches temperatures of 180 degrees Celsius. Don't worry, this will not damage your hair unnecessarily. Applying Solution #2 to the hair after ironing is completed. Rinsing the hair and conditioning. Drying the hair and applying a flat iron to remove excess moisture if necessary.

Well my daughter has extremely thick long hair and the fastest easiest way to straighten her hair that hasn't seemed to damage it, is ironing it. I know it sounds crazy but it works. Way better than blowing it out or using a flat iron. I've done it on my hair and it lasts way longer and doesn't seem to curl or even frizz as fast as blowing out my hair does. It takes about 15 minutes depending on hair long your hair is. But make sure you iron it in sections.

i reccomend you:
1. wash hair as usual (shampoo, condition)
2. apply hair with striaghtening cream (usually, this cream can be founf under hair products that are used when you curl, blow dry, or striagthen hair often.)
3. blow dry on medium-high heat; hold brush up to hair and then blow dry
4. strighten with flat iron or curling iron....(i dont reccomend, but if it is your last choice, it works just as well.)
5. voila! your ready to go!
