They think it adds emphasis to whatever they're saying. Unfortunately, use too much of it, and it's like putting red pepper flakes on everything you eat -- everything ends up just the same and nothing is emphasized at all.

I don't know. I don't get it. but what I really want to know is what makes profanity profanity. Like if I just make up a word how would it be labeled profanity. I could say stupidhead and that is not profanity but if I say XXXXX then it is and it would offend someone. Why do those words have so much power when there are words that can be used in a bad way that don't have so much power. I guess you can't answer a question with a question.

Wow...people sure can be judgmental! I am far from ignorant, stupid, or at a loss for alternate vocabulary. I use "profanity" because it feels good. Furthermore, it does express exactly how I am feeling at times, so why would I use another word when the "profane" one is the perfect choice? Seriously, they're just words...you give them the power and the meaning.

Some because they are ignorant and can't put two coherent words together, some think it makes them sound older and 'cool' some because they think it makes them sound 'bad' and some think its funny. I think profanity shows a lack of knowledge of the human language and how to use it properly.
