is it possible for me to trek in the mountains being on anti coagulants after six months of being detected of DVT ? CT scan of the lungs shows Pulmonary Embolysis but i have NO breathlessness. thank you.

Well, because you're not showing signs of DVT doesn't mean you don't have it. and if a CT scan reveals pulmonary embolism then you should be careful. doesn't necessarily mean that you will get the classic signs and symptoms. your doc put you on warfarin so you could prevent from getting other clots. take it as prescribed and watch yourself because you will easily bruise and bleed. did your doctor give you antiemboilic stockings or ted hoses? you should be wearing those too. as for doing stenuous activities, consult your doctor before doing those. he knows best.

You probably have a form of edema, they make pressure socks for this, knee high and thigh high. One way to test is to raise your leg higher then the rest of your body while laying down, the swelling should go down. You can find a pair with out prescription at drug store. They will run between 12 an 20 dollars......good luck

be careful on warfarin it thins the blood very well and even a razor nick can be dangerous. also try a compression stocking to keep so much blood from entering the lower leg, you can get them at any drug store.

My mother has the same. You need to ask your doctor, and ask if it would help to wear compression stockings. Warfarin is a powerful drug--only your doctor can advise.
