I haven't gotten delivery in a long time and I can't remember if pizza chains charge a delivery fee. I don't wanna call and ask cuz then that would be weird..."Hi do you charge for delivery? Yes? Ok thanks bye..." and how much are u supposed to tip the deliverer?

If yes, how much is that delivery fee?

Look in the phone book under "pizza delivery." Usually, pizza places will say "free delivery" in their ad. If there's no delivery fee, tipping the driver is customary. I'd say between $2-5 is average, though more is possible. I'd tip more if the driver had far to travel or if the order was big.

YES! Pizza places charge a delivery fee and thats because of people who dont give the delivery person a tip. That is considered their tip. With gas prices the way they are it seems like the delivery charge goes up by day. Another thing that sucks is that you are being charged this delivery fee but you wont get your pizza for like an hour vs. if you do like a carry out you dont get the charge and you get your pizza within 30 minutes. The whole thing is jacked up!

Whether or not there is a delivery fee depends on the restuarant you are ordering from. Sometimes, if a fee is charged, no tip is expected, but ALWAYS accepted gladly.

If there is no delivery fee, there is a good chance that the driver is getting a nominal sum per delivery (like $2.50) plus whatever tips s/he receives.

The only way to find out is to contact the pizza place to find out, or check if they have a website (many do).

Also, something I have discovered, is that often its the cheaper places that dont charge delivery fees, but this of course does not always hold true.

Don't hesitate to call to find out if you can't find out from a website... they probably get calls like that all the time!

Some of the chain pizza places in my area have started charging a delivery fee. I know for a fact Papa John's here in NC does.

depends on the place. Pizza Hut and Dominos don't add a charge to your bill. Most mom & pop places add $1-$1.50
not bad considering someone is trying to earn some money while spending a near fortune on gas and guaranteed only minimum wage.
I'd be more worried about adding at least a 10% tip to your bill if delivery is timely (remember weekends are super busy and expect 1 hour wait) and food is hot

We don't have a delivery charge here and I usually tip $2 per pizza.

No fees, here, but I tip *very* generously for pizza (min. $5). This insures that the delivery guy knows how much I appreciate that he came out in foul weather, in the cold, after dark, etc.!

It would depend on what is standard practice where you are located. If there is no delivery charge, you should at least tip the driver.
