All but Brookline, claim to be the "oldest", but these are the founding five clubs of the USGA.

I just read article in Golf Digest that was referring to an original 9 hole public course in Brooklyn, NY.

I don't remember the name of the course but it talks about how this scottish guy built it before golf even was popular in the US. It's still there only 18 holes now.

Sorry can't tell you which issue of the magazine as I was at a doctors office and waiting in the lobby.
