I'm 15 years old, 5'4", and I weight 93 pounds. I have the ectomorph body type so its near impossible to gain weight. Now I dont need people telling me that weight will come naturally when I'm older, because it won't. Its genetics. I don't really care about muscle right now, just fat. I think that getting up to 103 pounds would be good for me. My birthday is July 16, and it would be awesome if I could gain the weight by then. But that is probably unhealthy, so I can extend the goal date to August 14 (when school starts for me).

So how do I go about doing this?

I really appreciate everyone's input, but I just find it so hard to start eating more. I have a small appetite and I start to feel sick and overstuffed when I try to eat more. And a bit sluggish, too. D'you know how to escape those side-effects?

Everybody is suggesting you eat junk food to put on fat. I say that most of the people making suggestions are wrong. You don't have to eat more, you have to eat more healthy. I don't know what your diet consists of so I am taking somewhat of a shot in the dark. First of all, eat fruits and vegetables. Preferably raw. Eat constantly, what I mean by that is, eat every hour or two. No big meals, say an apple now, carrots in an hour with a bagle. Combine lean meat (protien) with carbs. For example, when you sit down for a meal have some chicken and a baked potatoe. If you are eating lots of fat, chances are you body is just flushing then through. Avoid caffeen becuase it causes you to loose weight. Drink water, tea, avoid diet soft drinks...in fact, avoid ALL soft drinks. That extra sugar is speeding up your metabolism. Avoid white refined sugar and flour. Switch to whole grain breads and pasta. Go to the gym. Muscle is 3X denser than fat so if you want to gain weight, that is the way to go. Lift HEAVY! Enough weight that you fail at about 6 reps. Don't worry about becoming bulky or muscular. You are a female and your body does not work that way. I am so tired of that myth! Finally you might want to consider hormones. Birth control pills have caused lots of women to gain weight. If this not an option there is a product called melatonin. It's available at most pharmacys and health food stores. They sell it at Wal-mart. It's over the counter too. Take that about 30 minutes before you go to sleep. It's designed to help regulate your sleep pattern for jet lag and people who work night shifts, but I have seen it cause some people to gain weight. There are no side effects that I know of except it makes you tired and gain weight. A book I would look in to is Body for Life By Bill Phillips. Also you might want to look at another book called The Liver-Cleansing Diet by Sandra Cabot. You want to gain weight in a healthy manner, not with pop, chips, doughnuts and lazyness. I hope this info helps.

How To Gain 10 Pounds

You have to have more calories that are turned into fat, which isn't really good for you. You probably have a very high metabolism so 10 pounds for you is significant. Even if you gained it you would not be able to keep it unless you turned it into muscle and not fat! And even muscle would disappear after you stopped working out.

A balanced diet, if you are eating correctly, is more important than putting on weight weight that is not needed!

You won't get athersclorosis as soon as many, your blood pressure will usually be lower and that puts less stress on your heart.

I am sure plenty of people like you they way you are and there are always going to be those that are built differently. You'll probably live longer!

Again, any weight you add by eating carbs is going to turn to fat after your body need are met. The minure you stop, it will come off!

Try lots of potatoes with butter.........yummy foods are yours for the taking. Ice cream.

I couldn't gain a pound when I was your age UNTIL I moved in with an aunt who baked her own bread twice a week. Hot from the over with butter smeared all over it got me ten pounds in a short time.

I also found peanut butter worked on my. Lots of it... sometimes right out of the spoon.

Enjoy.

Btw, people told me I'd put it all on when I turned 30 but I didn't. Then they told me I would at 40 and I didn't either....but when I turned 50 the weight started sticking with me. I went from a size 5 to a 12 rather quickly and then started exercising to get back to a size 6 which I've maintained.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

Not to compare you with animals, but...when we are trying to add weight to our lambs we decrease the protein and bump up the carbs.
There are also drinks you can purchase that may help you add some weight, such as Ensure. I am not talking about Protein drinks for weight loss.
And finally, you might do well to just eat an assortment of healthy foods and get some exercise. Even though you are thin, it doesn't necessarily mean you are unhealthy. Make peace with your size and make it the best it can be!

Lots of Crunchy Peanut Butter, Drink whole milk or even better Half and Half which is cream and whole milk. Also Hagen Daaz Ice cream is made with whole cream. Lots of Fast Food. McDonalds double cheeseburgers have 26 grams of fat each. Eat 2-3 of those at lunch every day. Double up your portions and limit the amount of exercise you get each day. It's not healthy but I agree with you that it wouldn't hurt to put on a few more pounds. I use to do this when I needed to make weight requirements for boxing. In a few weeks of eating this crap I could add fifteen pounds of weight. Don't go overboard though because it is not good for your heart. Good Luck!

Keep that meal between 400 and 1000 calories. Serve yourself a smaller sized portion, so if you like heading back for seconds, you'll just end up eating a normal-size portion.
