I was told that a grand juror serves more time than a regular juror. I was told it was anywhere between 3-6 months. Is this true?

Grand Juries are convened for approximately a term (which is about a month). Unless it is a special Grand Jury which could sit for longer (until the reason it was set up is over.)

A Grand Jury, depending on you location, will hear many cases. In some areas the have AM, PM and ALL DAY grand juries. AM meets from 10-1, PM 2-5 and ALL DAY from 10-5.

I hope this helps.

Yes, that's true. Grand Jurors serve for a "term," which is a period of weeks or months, and they hear cases, or parts of cases which are brought before them by the prosecutor's office. Some grand juries serve for more than a year.

They generally don't meet continuously during this period, but for specific times each week.

Grand jury's are used for cases involving a capital offense or a crime against the state or government. Since these cases are usually more complex, grand juror's can expect to serve longer, as long as it takes for a verdict to be delivered.

Usually, a grand juror serves on a jury until the trial is over, but the juror can be dismised.

It can vary by district as to what there pool policy is. Also it depends on if you are actually called to be on a grand jury. you may be selected for a pool be required to appear for anywhere from a week to a month (like I said varies on the district could even be longer) but once in the pool never get chosen to actually sit on the grand jury.
