No, it's all in good fun. And anyone who attends a wedding knows the new couple could put the cash to good use.

I think it's tacky - those people are supposed to be there to celebrate with you, and they've all probably already bought you gifts. To ask for more money, especially so directly, is rude. Contrary to some people's opinion, not everyone does this - I've actually never seen it done, just heard about it on here. I know quite a few people who've had a dollar dance or whatever they're called, but I skipped that, too, because again, I think it's totally tacky.

To my family it is a tradition to do a dollar dance---and most people know you need the money----I think it can be done---If someone there thinks it's tacky they dont have to participate----thats my opinion----I wouldn;t worry about what just a few people agaisnt it would think---do it for you guys---and have fun with it---take care---hope this helped

I wondered this too for my wedding. But I figured, people paid for a gift, they shouldn't have to pay to dance with me. Now, I think it's tacky and tasteless to have a dollar dance at a wedding.

Nah, it's just for fun. It's not like the couple gets much cash from it anyway...
