Why do birds have the market cornered on the singing thing? I wish my kitty could carry a tune.

Cats aren't built like birds. And most simply don't sing. Although I have known kitties who would 'talk' a lot, and sometimes even sound like they're singing!

Because of their internal anatomy. Birds are able to vocalize, through inflation of the esophagus. Since cats do not possess such advancement in their internal organs, they cannot sing.
Also, superb hunters like cats, tend to be as quiet as possible. :)

The same reason that it doesn't fly like a bird flies or doesn't get you a beer after giving it a crack on the @ss like woman does. It is just not their way.

cats r different than birds and birds have different traits than cats. don't worry my cat won't sing either.

cats can nitter when they see birds or other things in the yard that'll attract their attention

My cat 'sings' When he purrs, it's like he is singing. He is big and black and his name is Nelson Rolihlahla MANDELA! Mandela for short.
