She isn't bad or anything, she just talks so much ,she talks in her sleep. It's funny to listen to her talk when she is sleeping, but during the day she never quits. It's driving me a little crazy. Her father and I are constantly telling her to calm down....Please any advice would be helpful. Thanx.

Seek professional help, they now have other drugs available. She may not be taking enough mg.'s, just make sure that she never takes 60 mg's or more per day, it will deteriorate their internal organs. I found that out when my son was on it, the Dr. did not tell me, I looked it up in a prescription book.

Ritalin is legal speed. I don't believe that ANY child should be on Ritilan for anything. There are many other meds to use. Does your daughter have ADD or ADHD? Is that why she is on Ritalin? If so, she could be put on Adderrall or some other med that won't make her more hyper than she already is. Telling her to settle down won't work because she can't help it. The Ritalin is a reason why she is talking all the time. And if she has ADD or ADHD, then that is another reason why.

My ex and his kids were all on Ritalin. When the kids were on it, they were given too much and were like zombies. When my ex was on it as a young child, he would go home from school and bang his head on chairs or other things (wallls, etc) and cry because of it. Once he was taken off of it, he was hyper, but fine.

I used to be a nanny and the 10 year old has ADHD. He can be hyper and have a hard time quieting or settling down, but he was worse on meds. Some kids just can't deal with meds.

If I were you, I would talk with your daughter's doctor and see what else can be done/given. Maybe a change in the diet can help. Look up ADD/ADHD on search engines and you should find places that can give you lots of inofrmation, if this is the reason why she was put on this med in the first place, that is.

I don't want to be rude, but would you give your child illegal drugs? I doubt it. So, please check with her doctor to see about getting her off of that stuff.

Hmm...She is on Ritilin? I assumed that would sort of calm her down...Has she been on it for a while? I know that some medicines have a cummulitive effect. Alot of kids talk alot too, if it really bothers you..I doubt there is anything else you can do other than put her on meds.

ritlin is speed you know. maybe the speed you are giving her isn't having the calming affect it has on some children. does she have any brothers or sisters? if no, that may be her problem, she needs to be around other kids.

Reduce the dosage - I guess ask the Doc if it's okay, sounds like she is taking too much.

maybe she needs a different dosage on her medicine? talk to her doctor and see if he can recommend anything different.
