Good question! No, they do not cause long-term damage in any way. The tetanus booster shot is quite painful. If you think about what Tetanus is, this makes sense. Tetanus causes your muscles to spasm (tighten up). The point of the vaccine is to introduce a little bit of inactive tetanus (meaning it's not actually alive to reproduces) into your system so that your system will develop protection against Tetanus. The area where the shot is given actually reacts to it a little bit by tensing up. It only lasts a few minutes though, but stays sore for a few days. You should be just fin in a day or so. If it is very uncomfortable warm compresses work well to get things loosened up! Have a great time on your trip!!! Stay safe!

If given properly and in the right dosage, and the right area of the body, and using the right equipment it shouldn't do any damage. Some of the shots for overseas will hurt for a few days. If given properly tetanus boosters shouldn't be painful more than 1-2 days, but there are some of the shots required for different countries that may be painful for a few days.
If the area becomes reddened and is hot to touch you might call your physician and ask him/her about the immunizations you received. most physicians will tell you or give you written instructions for what to expect if there is possible side effects.
have fun on your trip

If it was tetanus, you can expect it to hurt for several days. Generally, injections do not damage muscle tissues or fat... unless it was given incorrectly, such as supposed to be given in fat and was given in muscle or visa versa, but if the person who gave you your injection was familiar with their work, this SHOULDN'T happen.

if you are talking about a common shot like an anti-biotic, the answer is generally, no real damage. they do some very minor damage when administered but your body will heal it almost immediately.

A needle does cause injury to underlying tissue, causing redness, swelling and sorness (inflammation). You will be ok. Enjoy your trip!
