Brandy, it's funny you came along just now - I'm actually going in to schedule surgery on Tuesday my own self. Mine's a little less exciting - moving a nerve around in my elbow so my hand starts working right again - but I'm still on pins and needles.

I kinda thought I was out there alone, and that I was going in without another person in the world caring one way or the other what ended up happening, and then, boom, you came along.

Tell you what, Brandy - if you'll send me good thoughts and hopes for a good outcome Tuesday, I'll send mine right back to you. Fair enough? Deal.

You'll do fine. Getting a lung biopsy is sorta between going for your first driver's license test and your first real kiss. You pucker and pucker, and you keep worrying that you'll drive up on the curb. But you know what? You got the license, and he was SO sweet that you thought your heart would explode.

Looking back, neither one was awful, but you'll never forget either. And Tuesday, you'll have my heart with you, friend. Get back on here and let us know how you did. We - all of us at Y! Answers - really do care, and really want the best for you.

Talk to you late Tuesday or early Wednesday, Brandy.

Lots of love and laughter - Stuart

Hi Brandy

I know you are probably scared and I wish I could take away your fear. I'm a cancer survivor and I have lost alot of friends to cancer, my best friend Kat died from lung cancer. I do know alot about it, I own a support group called Lymphland which we deal with side effects of the cancer and the condition called lymphedema.

The biopsy will be fairly fast, they will put a tube in your nose down your esophagus to the lungs and just take a tissue sample or to where there is a tumor or growth. They will analyze it within a few hours, maybe shorter time frame now, my friend had it done in 2000. Anyhow you will know where you stand that day. If it's benign, it's up to you what to do, you can have a tumor or growth removed or shrunken with radiation or simply watched. Surgery would be needed if it grew. If it's malignant (cancer) they would want to run more tests to see if there was any spreading. They would do a bone scan, blood work, and probably the most important is the pet scan. You can treat the tumor with surgery, laser, chemo, radiation, and there are probably alot of other newer treatments with radiofrequency Idont' know about, I know they were testing alot of stuff back in 2000.

There are many kinds of chemo, some make you sick and your hair come out, others don't, they just make you tired. There's IV forms and pills. There are also alot of clinical trials out there people can ask to be in too.

Try to destress this weekend, talk a walk, listen to music, play video games, watch movies, whatever relaxes you.

hugs, and good luck Tuesday. Tina

Hi,
I'm sure you're feeling anxious but it doesn't change the results so if possible try not to think about it too hard. Just watch tv or talk to friends or whatever relaxes you the most.

If something is wrong, you will handle it. That's what we all do - there is no other choice.

Luckily in this time, these things are found in time to be cured.

One of my very dear friends went through this about 6 or 7 years ago. She actually was found to have cancer in the lung but when she went to the hospital, it was removed and within a couple of weeks she was out walking and enjoying her life again. There have been regular check ups and nothing has been wrong in all this time.

Prayer helps. My friend Betty asked for prayers and got many......I will pray for you.

God bless.

Brandy,
The Dr. will put a small tube down your nose for the biopsy. It doesn't hurt and he will tell you the results that day and you can go home. If you do have cancer the phone will start ringing and you will have to have a c.t. scan, head scan, pet scan, etc. This will take time when all you want to do is start getting treatment asap. After they get all the results, they will figure out what is best for you. 80% of people get non small cell and the other 20% gets small cell. The non small cell is easier to treat because it isn't as aggressive as the small cell.
Get in touch with the American cancer society or lung u.s.a. they will send you material and possibly help with some gas money. The best you can do is to talk to people about it and pray to God.
Through him all things are possible. There are alot of books available. If you need to talk I'll be glad to listen. flyinpigs_2000@yahoo.com.

Good luck, this is a big moment in your life and you are about to face an even bigger one whne you actually go in for surgery. However, that does not mean that you are powerless. This is a chance for you to step up to something really big and show how great you are. It is also a time for you to begin to put your trust into those that are going are going to be working on you. This is a time for you to shine. It is also a time to be appreciative of all that you have because of the size of this matter. I feel that you are going to come out fine and dandy with a new an brighter outlook on life, even if it is already bright. Have strength and courage. If you wish to talk more you can e-mail me at . This is simply an obstacle that life is throwing at you, what will you do with it? Take care, be well and remember that there are people who care, even if they have never met you before and don't know you at all. May the light shine on you and may you always find shade and water.

It will be ok. No matter what the results of the biopsy are.... It will be ok.
Take a deep breath... and tell yourself... it will be ok... you can get through this... I am sure of it. If the results arent what you'd hoped, then you know you just have to take the next step in the process to get yourself better... if the results are what your hoping for, then you forget about it and move on to better things... well... either way your moving on to better things... its just that its possible that you might have to take a little detour to get there.... think of it that way..... keep yourself calm by finding your "happy" place in your mind and go spend a few minutes there....
if you need to talk, email me... you can email me through here...
let me know how it went, will you?
In the meantime I will pray that God gives you the strength you need, and that you are blessed with a favourable result. :)

You got it. I prayed for you to be healed and have no trace of the problem on Tuesday. I have had some scares myself, but by the Grace of God I wasn't sick at all. God be with you and you ask Him to set you free of this worry. Fright is one of the biggest reasons why people get ill and why they stay ill. I pray that your worries will be gone and you have your good health back. In His Service, Aria

Wow. my father-in-law just had one. We are waiting on the doctor's. The waiting is the worst part so take a good book to occupy your mind. I hope that everything turns out great for you. I gotta say, don't worry about "keeping your chin up" or all that crap, it is ok to be upset and scared. Don't let anyone tell you different. We are all hoping for you!!!
