I bid in various ways, certainly through experience.

I judge the issues, IE: Room size, prep, cuts, client wanting to be my BOSS, etc,,,then charge approximately $2 a sq. ft, base fee. Example: a 10 by 10 room with an 8 ft ceiling, base price will be $640, but I usually deduct 20 % if I believe it's a skate or will get me more work. At that price you need not move or cover anything. You need not worry about cleanup after. You need not even offer me a bottled water.

For non profit orgs/charities I charge 55 cents a sq. ft, with the same goal in mind.

I have also asked for strictly time and materials and have gotten that, but most often people I knew or those who had more dollars then sense,,,while still giving them quality service.

I always include cleanup in my bid, I never pad a bid to allow me to buy equipment that I should already have,,, but I will add some consumables, such as caulk, or Mud that goes into major patch work.

I know my skills and morality. I've never been rejected in a bid unless I wanted to be, in a job I really didn't want, and I can offer up references from both in,,,and out of the USA.

No I'm not soliciting work, but have traveled extensively for work.
