If anyone breeds or has papillons, please help me. I have a lovely four month old female papillon puppy. The breed standard says their height should be 8-12 inches. However, mine is already ten! Will my papillon go over the standard's height?

I know the rate of growth differs from dog breed to dog breed, and that small dogs grow differently than larger dogs, but when my yorkie was four months, he still had a long way to go.

Unless you actually paid for a show dog and have plans to show your pap in the confirmation ring, then I would see the breeder again and ask her/his opinion. But if you bought your pap simply as a pet then it wouldn't really matter how tall your pap is going to get. But generally they shouldn't be that tall yet.

There is a growth poll online that was started to help with future estimates of a papillon's adult height. I know it won't help you now, but by filling it out, you could potentially help others with the same question in the future.

over 12 inches at the withers is a disqualification in confirmation for this breed. At 4 months the dog is still growing and should be its full height at 9 months
