I'm a Christian, and if love and respect is offensive...then how do you want us to treat you>? Praying is many peoples ultimate form of respect and love. All religions teach love and patience so is that a bad thing>

I don't know anyone who has ever been offended when Christians express their love. But I do know a lot of people who get offended when a Christian assumes that they are a Christian or when a Christian tries to force their beliefs on that person.

It's not a bad thing. When you pray and show love and respect to others, you are shinning God's light in a dark world. Some people may get offended because when a person has been in darkness, the light blinds them. The more they have been in darkness, the worse it is. It hurts, but it also brings life to the dying. Just be mindful and gentle to everyone. Many blessings.

expressing love and telling others that if they were living in the same manner as you life would be peaches and cream are two different things. yes all religions teach love and patience which is why you have to respect other peoples beliefs and if they want to know about your religion then offer what you believe. but dont turn into a broken record chanting "Jesus loves you Jesus loves you repent repent repent" because it turns a lot of people who need love off

an act of love speaks much louder than the words

Love and respect isn't offensive. What you may be referring to is many Christians tendency to look down upon anyone who doesn't show their love and respect by prayer or through other christian type modes. We also don't want you to just assume that we ARE christian - because then either we must fake that we are, or we have to tell you that we AREN'T and that we are agnostic or whatever, which leads to some unpleasant and awkward moments. I don't have anything against Christians, unless they have something against me for NOT being Christian. Unfortunately, many of them do have a problem with me NOT being Christian.

love, patience and respect are not bad things. Forcing your religious views on someone else IS. I have my own thought, beliefs and opinions on religion and don't want to have to hear anyone else's. That is my choice. The Bible also says "judge not lest ye be judged" so why do you "Christians" presume to tell me that I'm going to hell because I don't believe the way you do?

Unfortunately many Christians think they're expressing love when in reality they are being condenscending. It's also a matter of perspective and interpretation. I think there has been enough bad press for believers over the last century to create a stereo-typical perspective on the part of non-Christians. Just like you percieve non-Christians as being "offended" by your faith "gestures", so non-Christians perceive your faith/love gestures as being either judgemental or condenscending. I believe that Christians have a lot of work to do to erase the very un-Christ-like stereo-type that they've created for themselves.

You could treat me like you don't believe in some mythological omnipotent being for a start and pretend that you realise how stupid it is to chant to this aforementioned mythical creature. Then, you never know, it might sink in to you why people are offended by your "love" and "respect".
What a pity pretentiousness wasn't the first of your deadly sins. You could have replaced lust with it and had a good time.

Its not that most people hate that Christians love and respect people... Most people get annoyed when Christian express it so openly and attribute it to their religion, when n most cases its really what you're taught when you are brought up. Its that feeling of having something continually shoved down your throat, and since Christianity is such a commonly practiced religion, a lot of people have that overwhelmed feeling of having to hear/deal with it often.

Don't weary in trying to do good. Christ suffered deeply for His love for men. Why should we have it any better? Christ asked us to take up our cross and follow Him. He never promised a rose garden, only to doctor all the thorns we got stuck on. Don't get distracted from the beauty of the forrest just because of the ugliness of some of the trees. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps the Holy Spirit is working conviction in those who reject your love? Let Him continue His work and you continue to obey the Great Commission, Love one another, even as I have loved you. Christ said if we acknowledge Him among men, He will acknowledge us in front of His Father. I'll take that over the praise or acceptance of the world, any day.

It's not a bad thing at all unless the other person doesn't want to hear it. Religion should never be forced on anyone. Religion is "by choice" not by force.

Personally, I don't like to hear religious talk. I find it offensive.
